I sank into Chase’s embrace as he wrapped his arm around me, holding me from behind. He kept my rage at bay as he engulfed me in a sense of safety and security. Larsen leaned in, setting his drink on the table, and continued the conversation as though nothing had happened.
“Don’t worry about her, babe. We’ve got you.” Chase’s whisper sent a shudder down my spine, and I believed him. I trusted that they would have my back regardless of what might happen.

Sand coveredmy bare feet as I stumbled back to my condo. Chase and Larsen were on either side of me as usual, and Larsen was laughing along with my stupid ass, but Chase had a hard-set jaw. I wasn’t sure what was up with him, but I wanted to find out. Maybe another day when I wasn’t quite as tipsy and could hold a serious conversation.
Once Giana mysteriously disappeared from the boat, the party got so much better. I ended up talking with practically everyone there, and Meg and I even had a drinking date night planned. I still had the box of booze I’d brought with me, which I surprisingly hadn’t made my way through yet. I was sure I would have downed the whole box within the first week, but then I found other ways to spend my time instead. I realized I stopped drinking so much when I met the guys, because they made me want to experience things with them while sober. They gave me much better highs than any whiskey bottle ever could.
As my condo came into view, I squinted. “Okay, either I’m super drunk and not just tipsy, or we left a light on inside.”
“I’m pretty sure we didn’t leave a light on,” Chase growled. “I checked them all before we left.”
Larsen tightened his grip on my hand. “Stay with us. We’ll find out what’s up.”
“Probably another break-in,” Chase supplied.
We walked silently toward the condo and my steps faltered when I saw shadows inside. “I think someone is in there.”
Sand flew into the air as I burst into a run, dragging Larsen behind me due to his death grip. When we reached the front door, I saw the handle had been broken when someone took a drill to it.
Fuckers, now that was something else I would need to fix. I fumed when I thought about taking another trip to the hardware store the next day to buy another doorknob. Why couldn’t people leave me and my fucking condo alone?
Larsen pushed me behind him and entered first, to my dismay. I hated being treated as though I was fragile, regardless of how sweet the intentions were behind it. I was as tough as fucking bricks and would withstand the strongest tsunami better than anyone else. However, the guys seemed to want to protect me. Which was fine, as long as they realized I wasn’t glass. I was fucking duct tape.
We ascended the steps, and I heard some strange noises coming from my bedroom. If anything, they sounded like a dying raccoon trying to have an orgasm.
Confusion filled me as I rushed past Larsen and threw open the door. Then, I keeled over in hysterical laughter when I caught two of my least favorite people in the middle of a dance. They paused their painful bouncing and looked at me, one with terror-filled eyes and the other with a mischievous grin.
Giana was riding Todd’s dick—in my bed. Could this whole situation be even more fucked up? I wondered if there was another condo for rent, because this one was apparently a welcome center for disaster.
In response to my improper reaction, Giana stared at me, rolled her hips forward with another thrust, and twisted her lips into a more sinister smirk, if that was even possible. Todd, on the other hand, looked like he was now shriveling up inside her as all the blood drained from his body.
“Nat, fuck, this isn’t what it looks like.” His words were garbled as he placed his hands on her thighs in an attempt to stall her movements.
In between bursts of laughter, I righted myself and brushed the hair from my face. “Right. So, what is it supposed to be that it apparently doesn’t look like?” I placed my hands on my hips and bit back a smirk as I waited for his explanation. It only took a moment for me to fail to keep the smile from my face.
“She invited me over, saying you wanted to talk to me. So I showed up, expecting you to be here.” He sat up, and pushed a squealing Giana off of him and to the side. She managed to throw her leg over to catch herself before fully tumbling to the floor. The pissed off look on her face made my grin bigger. They already weren’t winning, and it was getting increasingly worse for them. This was great. Here I was reveling in other people’s pain, not giving a shit how fucked up that might be. “I was waiting for you to show up, and then she popped in and jumped on me.”
“I suppose she burned your pants off too and told you to take a nap, and you just happened to wake up with her on your dick?” I said through the largest smile I’d ever worn. “Missed dinner? No worries, tonight’s special is bitch on a stick.”
“Pretty much.” His hands were crossed in front of him to cover up the shriveled appendage.
It was a surreal feeling. Not long ago, I was pissed off at the cheating asshole, but now I couldn’t be bothered enough to care. It was crazy how quickly your priorities could change once you found someone who thought you were worth it.
After laughing my ass off, I waved away his concern, reached into my dresser drawers, and pulled out a couple outfits. “Don’t mind me, I’ll leave you two alone to fuck in my bed all you want, but if you’re not gone by morning, I’m calling the cops.” I shot a glare at Giana. “And I don’t give a fuck if your family runs this place. You’ve never messed with pissed off Lee. That day on the dock wasn’t even a warmup.”
With a smile and a tootles wave, I motioned for the guys to follow me as we exited the condo. “So, whose place am I staying at tonight?” I raised an eyebrow, waiting for them to decide. Neither of them would turn me down, but even if they did, no way in hell was I walking back into that disaster zone tonight.
“We can stay at mine this time,” Chase offered after Larsen gave him a look. I’d only ever been to Larsen’s, so I was eager to see Chase’s.
“Alright, then lead the way.” I smacked his ass, and he grabbed my hand and pulled me along.
Chase exited the door and led the way to the condo two doors down from mine. Once inside, he began turning on all the lights to give us a tour, and I looked around.
He said he’d lived in this place his whole life, but I didn’t expect his home to look so cozy. I assumed it would look more like a bachelor pad, but it could pass as a family home. He must not have done much redecorating, if any.
“This is the home I grew up in. After Dad left, it became mine. He did leave a lot of stuff behind though, which is why you see so many things. Anyone hungry? I’ve got frozen pizza.”
