“I don’t really know what to say or do. I’m not sure I’m even fully awake yet, but I also don’t want to leave you alone. This isn’t exactly something that happens here, and honestly, I’ve lived here my whole life and can’t recall any mention of a previous incident. I’m just worried is all.”

“No problem. You’re welcome to stay, but if we’re still going surfing again in the morning, we should probably get some sleep.” My heart thudded when his eyes lit up a bit, and he nodded.

“If you don’t mind. I’ll keep watch down here.” He started to head toward the living room, but I stopped him.

“Dude, no. First of all, I can handle my own fucking self, alright? I’ve done it enough times, and I can take a bitch down if needed, which I’ve also done. Separate story.” I grabbed his hand and pulled him up the stairs behind me. “Come on. We’re both exhausted.” Actually, I was waking up a bit more with him here, not to mention I was leading him directly to my bed for sleep and nothing else. I was a little disappointed in the nothing else part, but if they both thought I was worth it, then I guess the wait couldn’t be so bad.

Pulling the blanket over us, he snuggled close to my back and draped an arm over me to hold me close. I heard the low whistle of air as he breathed in my hair. “You smell like the ocean,” he whispered, and I chuckled.

“I’ve been spending a lot of time in it lately.”

“It’s not bad. I like it.” He placed a kiss on my shoulder, and it reminded me of what Larsen had said earlier about them sharing. I didn’t know if he was aware that we’d had that discussion.

“Larsen and I talked earlier.”

“Yeah?”

“He told me that you two sharing girls isn’t anything new.” Even though it was completely new to me, and I was still wrapping my head around it all, struggling to accept how I wanted to throw all inhibitions into the wind and enjoy life for once. Only, I didn’t want anyone to end up getting hurt in the end, because I was actually beginning to care about these bastards.

“I like you.”

“I like you too,” I replied.

“Larsen likes you.”

“And I like him too,” I responded, wondering where this was going.

“Then that’s all that matters.” A few moments later, his breathing turned shallow and his arm grew limp around me. It didn’t take him any time at all to fall asleep, and I wasn’t far behind. Placing a kiss on his wrist, I closed my eyes and let sleep claim me as well.
