Shortchanged.
I glance sharply at Dante.
“Who went with you to the pickup?” I asked in a curt voice.
He frowns at me before answering.
“Terry, Sol and Marco,” he replied. “Why, what’s wrong?”
I kept my eyes on him for a moment before tucking my phone back into my pocket. I paid Dante extremely well. I doubt he was dumb enough to steal from me or Cam.
“Did you leave the money with them alone at any point?”
He narrowed his eyes as if thinking about the night before he winced.
“Yeah, I did. I had to take a call from the hospital. Fuck. How much?” He asked, running his hand through his hair.
The tension eased in my neck and shoulders. His mother was in the hospital, and that was probably the only exception I would tolerate for a shitty mistake like this.
“I don’t know yet, but I am sure as fuck going to find out. Get a hold of them. Take them all to the Kent building site,” I growled out.
Not only was I going to have to deal with thieving bastards, but I would be missing out on being inside Gia’s pussy.
Some motherfucker was going to die.
Violently.
By the time we reached the office, Dante had sent men to pick up Sol and Marco. Terry, the weaselly little fuck had disappeared.
“I’m sorry, Roman. This is on me. I will make sure I get him. I’ve got everyone I know keeping an eye out for him,” he said.
I exhale a long breath.
Shit like this would have had me punching his face in, but since I had fucked all my frustrations out all night and morning, I felt a little calmer.
“Just get him and the others out there as soon as possible. If he has left the country, it will make tracing him harder. Not impossible. Do not leave any stone unturned. It’s done, but as long as we find him and the money, it’s fine,” I said, looking at him sternly.
His eyes widened.
“Woah, I need to meet your woman and thank her. I was sure you were going to fuck up my beautiful face again,” he said in surprise.
Just thinking of Gia had me smiling before I caught myself.
“Yeah, don’t get your hopes up. If you don’t find Terry, I will be fucking up more than your face,” I said before turning towards Joseph, who held the door open for me.
As soon as I got into my office, I called Cam.
“How much?” I asked without any greeting.
“I got the stones. Paper is missing by one,” he said.
I sent cash and diamonds as per his request. Electronic funds were complicated due to all the offshore accounts and fake companies we had to set up. With so much government and agency access to online transactions, it was too risky.
“I’m on it and will get back to you as soon as the recovery is made. My apologies, Cameron. You know this isn’t how I conduct my business,” I said.
He chuckled.
“That’s why you are still in good health, my friend,” he said.
