I nearly rolled my eyes. What an idiot. He could have carried on with whatever he was doing if he hadn’t made the mistake of getting greedy.

“You want him taken out?” I guessed.

He unleashed a sinister smile. “Oh no. If you cut off the head of an enemy, three more will rise in its place. I want to dissemble his little empire systematically from within.”

I flashed my own grin, enjoying the sound of that.

“You’ll go to Miami and find their boss, Alessio Dias. Gain his trust.” He raised a brow. “By any means necessary.”

I took in a slow breath, understanding the unspoken meaning. They weren’t sending in a man because this was a mission for a woman. The fastest way to win over a man was through his bed. Get in with this Dias person, make him fall for me, and tear his world apart.

“I understand.”

“Good, we want intel. All of his business dealings, imports and exports. How he cleans his money. Who else he works with. Destabilize his entire network, make his men question him, and we can slip in and take over.”

Interesting. This was underhanded, sly. I’d have to get creative, actually use my skills. It sounded like it would take weeks, if not months, to complete. It would be my longest mission, and I couldn’t wait to get started.

“You’ll be posing as Millie Torres, heiress to billions. This will give you a reason to run in his circles. I will go over your backstory on the way over,” Rod explained.

“When do I leave?”

El Lobo grinned. “Today.”

Rod crossed his arms. “Bags are already packed with everything you’ll need.”

Well, then. “Okay. Do we have a file ready, or will I be building that?”

“The others have that information already.” Rod stood.

“What others?”

“Four wolves will be there as backup,” he explained.

“I don’t need backup.” I spoke as calmly as possible, not wanting to offend the Alpha.

“They’re there as security.” He extended his hand to me. We were done speaking in front of El Lobo.

I stood and dipped my head. “Thank you, sir. I won’t let you or the Pack down.”

He nodded, and we were dismissed.

Once outside, I stopped and glared at Rod. “Do I need to remind you of my body count? I do not need or want backup slowing me down.”

“It’s nonnegotiable. You are far too valuable to go alone.” He sighed. “Consider it insurance on our investment.”

Lovely.

“It is what it is, Emilia. There will be no changes made.”

With that, he crossed the street to a waiting town car and opened the door. “The plane is waiting.”

CHAPTER 4

Emilia

Rod was an asshole.

Not that I was particularly surprised. He was a Velez and high up enough to be hand-selected by the Alpha to manage this mission.
