She turned away at the mention of her fake boyfriend, and I caught Marco’s gaze, giving him the smallest shake of my head.

No mission talk today.

His eyes lit with something I couldn’t identify.

“Looks like we’re free to do whatever we want.” As Emilia spun to face him, he raised a brow. “Have any ideas?”

She glided her arms through the water in front of her. “This was what I wanted.”

“You have all of Miami to choose from and all the Pack’s money, and you want to stay here?” He stepped toward her.

“Yes,” she answered simply, honestly.

“There’s nothing else you’d rather be doing?” he pressed.

She sunk a few itches until her chin skimmed the surface.

He stopped within her reach and tilted his head. “You can have anything you want.”

I narrowed my eyes, trying to figure out what his goal was. “She already said she wants to swim.”

He ignored me. “Tell me, princess. This is your day. Your chance to have whatever you want. All you have to do is say it.”

She bit her lip, assessing him.

“Maybe a dream of yours?”

Her eyes widened, and her pulse quickened. “What the hell?”

I pushed away from the wall, ready to intervene if needed.

Marco’s lips quirked.

“How did you know?” she whispered.

Now I was confused.

“You talk in your sleep..”

Her eyes darted to mine before focusing back on him. “No, I don’t.”

“Really, you do.”

“What did she say?”

He stepped back, letting me into their circle. “Our sweet Em,” he began as she grumbled, “has a very dirty subconscious.”

“Shut up!” She reached for him, but he easily evaded.

“Oh, really?” I grinned and put my arm around her shoulders, holding her in place.

“Fuck you!” she yelled, at who, I didn’t know.

“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” Marco taunted.

She froze. “You bastard.”

He ignored her and looked at me. “Last night, she had the most interesting dream.”
