“It was nothing.” Cam waves to the table. “Let’s sit down and have breakfast.”

“Did you have any problems with your flight, and is everything all right with your room?” Dom picks up a menu.

“Was that the same plane we took to Hawaii?” Cin sets down her menu.

“Yes,” Mav says.

“Everything is fine with the room,” Uncle Brett says.

“This place is cool as hell.” Cin bounces in her seat.

After breakfast, we ride in the limo to the track, and instead of being taken to seats or even to the VIP area, we’re taken once again to the track.

Cin punches Cam in the arm. “You’re kidding. We’re watching the race from down here?”

“As long as you stay out of the way, we can stand off to the side.” Cam points to where it will be safe.

Before the race starts, George comes over, and I understand what I looked like yesterday when I met him because Uncle Brett and Cin are hilarious as they trip over their words.

“I hope you enjoy the race.” He smiles. “We’ll talk after I win.”

The race is close, but in the last second, George pulls in front and wins. The crowd goes wild, and so do we.

After the race, the crew talks to Cin, and George comes and talks to my uncle. I walk over and kiss Cam.

“What was that for?” Cam asks.

“For being the best boyfriend ever.”

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

SHELBY

The next few weeks are crazy.

We sent the Masons on vacation. Henry tried to talk us out of them going as the car company pulled up in front of their house.

According to Luke, his dad never takes vacations.

Chad called Henry the night before and told him he’d still have a job when he returned, saying this was a long overdue vacation with his family and to take this time to bond with his daughter and grandson.

Chad also rented them a suite at one of the park hotels. Henry argued it was too much, but Chad told him it was the least he could do for his years of service.

Once the Masons are off, Mr. Scott returns and goes over everyone in the household.

Nick pushes up his glasses. “So, the only thing we discovered is that your mom is a sneaky bitch. Sorry, Dom.”

“No need to say sorry. She is, but I didn’t understand how deep it went.” Dom lowers his head. “We learned from one of the maids that she’s been talking to someone. According to one of the guards, she’s even been sneaking out. She’s supposed to have a guard when she leaves the house, but she evades them.”

“Do you think Roger got to her?” I ask.

Dom shrugs. “It’s possible from everything we heard.”

“It would make sense. What other reason does she have to be up here on your last day of school while she thought you were out? She claimed to be looking for something. That’s when I met your dad,” I say.

Dom spins my way. “Why didn’t you tell us?”

“It slipped my mind. A lot happened at graduation,” I remind him.
