“The school board says you have to have a B average to stay on the squad. It’s too much pressure. The whole squad does it,” she huffs out.
Oh, shit. She just outed the whole cheerleader squad.
Paige smirks. “I guess there are going to be a lot fewer cheerleaders.”
“Thank God!” I cheer.
CHAPTER FIFTEEN
Friday finally arrives with bright blue skies.
The Barbie Squad has been quiet, almost too quiet. There’s been a few jabs here and there, but nothing too horrible.
Paige seems to be getting used to the guys. Well, all of them except Dom. Paige and I still sit by ourselves at lunch to give me time away from them. Everyone at school knows I’m seeing them, and Paige was right, most of the girls in school aren’t happy. Most spit insults then run, which I get a kick out of.
I’m heading to the cafeteria, my head full of chemistry shit, when Mav pulls me into an empty room.
Surprised, I smack his chest before he pushes me up against the closed door and leans his hard body against me.
“I can’t wait, anymore.” He tenderly touches my face. “I want a kiss.”
I inhale sharply at his delicate touch, and his lips gently caress mine. When he runs his tongue along my bottom lip, I draw him into my mouth and suck until he lets out a low moan.
Soon, the tender kiss turns smoldering hot. I thread my fingers through his black hair as he wraps one arm around my waist and the other behind my head. Time stops until we’re both desperate for a breath, and I have to take a couple of deep lungsful of air to calm myself down. He kisses me like I’ve never been kissed before.
Equally affected, he adjusts himself. “Fuck, Shelby.”
I peer up at his flushed face and freshly kissed lips. I need to get out of here, or I’m going to do something bad.
“Thanks for the kiss.” I try to push his face away, and he sucks in my thumb.
Oh, hell! He’s dangerous.
“I’m leaving before we do something that should not be done in school.”
“But you taste so good.” He pulls me closer, kissing my neck.
Behind me, the doorknob turns.
Oh, shit, someone’s trying to get in. This is exactly what I need, because it acts like a bucket of cold water.
When I slip out of Mav’s grasp, he growls, but I ignore him as I straighten my clothes and open the door.
A student I don’t know jerks back in shock. I slip past her and head to the cafeteria, leaving Mav with the surprised girl.
In the cafeteria, I load up a tray and head toward Paige when some girl strolls right up to me and flips my tray. Ravioli and sauce splatter all over my green shirt, and the tray falls to the floor with a loud bang.
Every pair of eyes in the room turn to me as I stand there with sauce dripping down my front, and laughter fills the room.
The girl who flipped my tray just smiles. “Oops.”
My eyes move over to the table where all the guys sit. Every one of them stands, looking at me, not sure if they should help me or not while the girls point and laugh at me.
I shake off the sauce that fell on my shoes but leave the rest alone. I have a plan for that. I stroll over to where Carrie sits.
“You need to watch where you’re going,” she giggles.
With an evil grin, I take my hand and move it up my shirt, grabbing all the sauce and Ravioli I can and fling it at Carrie.
