I knelt down beside her, keeping my voice calm even though my insides were screaming. “April. It’s Drag.”

“Don’t touch me! Where’s Zeke? I need my husband. I can’t trust anyone after Randi betrayed us.”

“She’s dead,” Winnie said, sending surprise through me. “Looked like Laren got her ass.”

“I need Zeke,” April cried, shivers rippling through her.

The front door burst open, and the scent of Sage and Luka instantly filled the air. Footsteps pounded against the floor as they headed toward us.

“Oh, my god!” Sage yelled, and April sucked in a gasp.

“Sage,” she whispered, tears rolling down her cheeks.

Sage squeezed her way into the closet and Winnie and I moved out of the way. She knelt beside April, calming her down.

“Winnie, call Zeke and tell him we found April,” I commanded, before turning toward Luka. “You’re in charge of my pack until I get back.”

Luka’s forehead creased. “Where are you going?”

I headed toward the front door.

“Drag!” Luka called out and I ignored him.

Once outside, I shifted into my wolf form and ran as fast as I could.

Lost and uncertain, I clung to one motivation: vengeance had become my closest ally.
