“I got a lead on the Powder lab. I thought you’d want to know,” he growled back.
I guess I got a taste of what I’d done to him earlier, because my dick was no longer standing at attention. I groaned and pulled my jeans back on.
“We have to take care of this. Are you okay?” I asked Delilah before tossing her the sweater and leggings I’d peeled off of her a few minutes prior.
“I’ll manage. I feel bad for the two of you, though.” She seemed sincere, but at the same time, amused. She didn’t make a move to get dressed or get up as Vik and I left her room.
Chapter 39
Delilah
The idea that these two powerful vampires would agree to share me was a shock. There was no way this could end well. They would be at each other’s throats in no time. I decided to just enjoy the ride until the whole thing blew up. There was no way I would be able to decide between them.
After a few strange days of splitting my time between the two of them, Viktor and Eli agreed on a slight redesign for the living area above Midnight that would allow each of us private space, while letting us be close. They had already pretty much split up the space, but finally agreed on the specifics of it. I had lost everything in the destruction of the original building, so it didn’t matter to me what they did.
The next three weeks were a blur. With rebuilding Midnight along with Viktor and Eli’s side project looking into thefts at their companies, there was no time for setting ground rules. I did manage to get my guys to agree on a schedule, but that didn’t seem to be helping.
The spatting had already started, and I knew it was just a matter of time before things went south. Every time Eli and I got close to sleeping together, Viktor would find a way to interrupt. Because of that, Eli made sure to return the favor. I was pretty sure the three of us were miserable, and I only had the two of them to blame.
Like today, I had a couple of hours alone with Eli at his condo, and he was so distracted with his rivalry that he barely even noticed I was here. I started rubbing his shoulders, but he shrugged me off because he was working on his plan to get back at Viktor.
"Can't that wait? We only get a couple of hours, and you've wasted half of it already. I have to get back to work at Midnight soon," I snapped at him. We were preparing for the grand opening next week, since most of the big construction had been completed.
Eli grumbled his response and I began to wonder if I wasn’t just some random pawn in this battle. Lately it seemed like neither of them was as interested in me as they were in one-upping each other.
Their rivalry had even gotten worse in their business. Viktor was obsessed with making Midnight the most successful karaoke bar in the city. Eli’s jealousy had him remodeling his bar, Dusk, across town and trying to compete.
“Seriously, you two promised. I can’t take this fighting all the time.” It probably wasn’t a good idea to scold Eli at lunch, but I couldn’t get him to come within fifty feet of Viktor. I had wanted to yell at them both together.
“I’m not fighting. I’m defending. There’s a difference,” Eli replied.
“No, you’re instigating. You don’t have to make your bar compete with Midnight. You have Viktor beat in the fashion industry. Can’t you let him have the bar scene?” I was trying to split things up so both companies could be profitable, but it was hard.
“I could, if you made it worth my sacrifice.” Eli wiggled his eyebrows suggestively.
“I’d be happy to, if the two of you would leave each other alone long enough for any of us to have some alone time.” I never knew that blue balls were a thing women could get, but I had a serious case.
Before I realized what had happened, Eli scooped me up and dropped me into his Porsche. “Where are we going?”
“To have some alone time,” he said, speeding down the street.
“But we were just alone inside and today is supposed to be Viktor’s turn. What happened to following the schedule?” I elbowed him in the ribs as he drove.
“Just call him and tell him I’ll have you back in an hour. He can have an hour of my time tomorrow. I want to show you something,” he pleaded.
I couldn’t resist his sexy pout, so I pulled out my phone. Before I could dial, it rang.
“I was just about to call you,” I said before an outraged Viktor cut me off.
“You’re with that lying son of a bitch, aren’t you?” He growled the words at me, letting the accusation hang in the air as I tried to figure out what he was talking about.
“Eli is taking me for a quick drive. We’ll be back in an hour. You’ll still get your full time, don’t worry.” I thought it would be comforting to him.
“After what he’s just done, I don’t ever want to see him again. Or you for that matter. I should have known the two of you were playing me. Just like he did all those years ago. I never wanted to admit that what people were saying was true, but I guess we have the proof now, don’t we?” Viktor kept rambling, so I put the call on speaker.
I turned to Eli, “What’s he talking about?”
Eli shrugged, but slowed the car. “Vik? What’s going on? What are you talking about?”
