“Good. I’m going to need a lot of it over the next couple weeks. A run for next weekend, and a BBQ for the one after that.” He started to stand then sat back down and looked at Cowboy. “Was that all?”

“Do you want more?”

“Not really but I was making sure I wasn’t leaving before you were done.”

“That’s all, for now.”

Miles gave him a curt nod, then stood and hurried off to get started on all the details, Cowboy was sure.

“Making the event’s monthly was a good call. I hadn’t thought that far ahead.”

“That’s part of being president. You also might start thinking about those winter events. Rides will be dangerous, but we can do other things. I think that’s part of where Tank screwed up, aside from the obvious, of course.”

Cowboy fell silent for a few minutes as he considered different options. He needed to get details from Miles about this weekend, then have a meeting with all the brothers to explain what he was doing and how it would benefit the Kings. And he needed to make time to see Ava again. If she was up for it.

He tipped back his bottle and drained it.

“I’m calling it a night. You know how to reach me.” He left the bottle on the table next to Deke. The prospect would clean it up later and went to the door. He wanted to sleep in his own bed tonight.

At home in his apartment, Cowboy turned on the TV, took off his boots and sat back in the recliner. He stared at the screen while flipping through channels until he got bored with not being able to find anything to catch his interest and went to bed. He was asleep nearly as soon as his head hit the pillow.

When he woke, he lay in bed and stretched before getting up and shuffling into the bathroom for a hot shower. As was his habit, he stepped into the tub, then turned on the water, letting that first blast of cold water hit him in the face. He’d found that first few seconds of cold water did more to wake him than a whole pot of coffee. Not that he passed on the coffee, it just wasn’t what woke him in the morning.

When the water warmed, Cowboy turned so it sprayed down his neck and back. The strong spray and the heat of the water beat the stiffness from his muscles left by several hours of laying stationary. While he let the water do its magic, he let his mind drift back to Ava.

He couldn’t help but wonder if it was her habit to shower in the mornings before work? One thought led to another and before he knew what he what he was doing, Cowboy was picturing her naked and wet in the shower. It didn’t take much imagination for him to picture her there in his shower with him.

He shouldn’t be doing this, he knew, but what would it harm? He took a palm full of soap and lathered up. He let the water beat down on his back, closed his eyes and pictured Ava there in the shower with him.

How she would blush, he had no doubt. But she was up for just about anything and he was sure she’d be game to shower, and more, with him, if he asked her. He pictured her pretty blush, the way it would cover her entire body. He imagined the pretty pink covering her tits. Tits he was sure would fill his palm and more. He ran his lathered hand down his belly and lower, cupping his balls for a moment as he imagined his hand was Ava’s. The delicate fingers running over his skin, cupping his balls, and sliding up the length of his rod.

Cowboy let his hand follow the path he imagined hers would take, then her mouth. He couldn’t help but imagine the sweet pressure of her tongue running along his length as he wrapped his own hand around is cock, and slide it along the length to the tip, then back down to the base.

He groaned as he repeated the motion, losing himself in the sensations that paired with the images in his head, sent fire racing along his spine. It didn’t take long until a curse ripped itself from his lips as he exploded all over his hand and the shower wall.

With a sigh, he cleaned himself up, finished his shower and dressed for the day.

As Ava prepared for work the next morning, she considered what Cowboy had said the night before. Did she really want to get involved with a biker?

He was nothing like Hank. That was a point in his favor, not one against him. If she had her way, she’d never get mixed up with a man like Hank again. She also wasn’t fool enough to swear off men all together. There had been parts of marriage she’d liked, though, even that hadn’t met with Hank’s approval. He’d told her it was unseemly for the wife of a pastor to be interested or as receptive to that part of marriage. At least that was what he’d told her. He hadn’t seemed to mind that Andrea had liked it. At least from what she’d seen when she’d walked in on them.

Ava pushed thoughts of Hank and Andrea out of her mind. He wasn’t in charge of her anymore, and she wasn’t going to let his likes or dislikes rule her life anymore.

What she needed to do was figure out what she wanted. But since Cowboy was the first person ever to ask, she hadn’t given it much thought.

What did she want? Ava asked herself as she applied her makeup and styled her hair. The obvious answer was that she wanted to live. But that sounded silly and simplistic, even to herself. She needed something more definite, something with more substance.

A list. She needed to make a list. That would help her figure it out. She took a legal pad from her desk and took it in the kitchen when she went to refill her coffee and get something to eat before she had to leave for work.

While she ate her bowl of oatmeal, she ran a line of numbers down the side of the page. Now came the hard part. Now she had to decide what she wanted.

Make my own decisions, good or bad.
