“Wait, where are you going?” She stops me again with her arm shooting out in front of the open door.

I’m going to release this built-up adrenaline and stress I have, but it’s easier to give her the vague answer.

“I have to go.”

“Why did you kiss me?” She grabs my arm and shuts my door again.

Because I really fucking wanted to. Because I can’t stop thinking how good it feels to forget who I am and what my world is like, and to just kiss the girl. Willa is too good for me.

“Because I need to fuck someone or beat someone up.” I shrug and lean over her with my arm on the roof of my car. “You’re right. I blew the game. I fucked up, and it’s either you or another chick that can get me off.”

She gives my shoulder a hard punch, making me take a step back.

“We’re friends. I figured I could tell you the truth.” I come back to get closer, willing her to hit me again. “Know any good pussy I can sink my dick in?”

She slaps my arm with a scoff, but turns to get away from me.

“I don’t like you when you’re like this.” That’s too bad, because I love her reaction to it. She whips around with a finger pointed in my face. “You’re just trying to get a rise out of me. You’re purposely pushing me away and pissing me off.”

In a huff, she paces with her hands on her hips. I lean against the car, enjoying the show to watch the steam rising out of her.

“That’s not how you get a woman to sleep with you.”

“Then how?”

She stops her incessant pacing to glare at me. “What?”

“How do you suggest I get a woman to sleep with me? I’ve been doing good so far, but you’re not giving in to my charm tonight.”

“Not by pissing her off,” she shouts with her hands thrown up. “By complimenting her.”

“Did I tell you how beautiful you look today? Gorgeous. Every fucking day.”

She ignores me. “By telling her she’s right, even when you think she might be wrong.”

“I already said you were right. You aren’t wrong. I deserved it.” That isn’t a line. She shouldn’t feel sorry for putting me in my place.

“Tell her how you really feel.” She stops pacing to plead with me. Begging me to come out and tell her we can be together, but we can’t.

“You’re too good for me.”

She rolls her eyes at me.

“I can’t drag you into my dirty, blood stained life.”

Willa’s big blue eyes droop down and she glances back at the arena. I know she saw him. He hates her. I’ve already heard him shouting and cursing the Coach and the school for letting her on the team. She’s a woman, and powerful women threaten him.

“How else?” I grab the pocket of her school fleece to pull her closer. “What else can I do?”

“Kiss her.” She sucks in a breath as she looks up at me.

“I already did that.”

“Kiss me again.” Her doe eyes plead and beg for me. Beautiful big innocent eyes that I could destroy. But I’m not making her any promises. We can’t be more than friends, and nothing has changed that.

Taking my time, I move the short blonde hairs away from the soft lines of her heart-shaped face. Freeing up her lips that nothing can come between us. Her tongue peeks out to lick the chapped corners from the cold air. She sucks in an icy breath when my hands cup her small jaw.

I lean in and suck the breath right back out of her, molding her soft delicate lips to mine to savor the moment. Her mouth moves over mine, pulling my lip between hers and sending a wave of euphoria through me.
