“What. The. Fuck,” I say out loud under my breath.
This guy is certifiably insane, and well, smart. He left no DNA at the crime scene and wore thick leather gloves. He somehow found out where she lives when he originally brought the pearls to her house. He seems to know a lot about how to leave a clean crime scene, both a year ago and even now. I start to wonder if we can use that information to get closer to finding out who this is. Maybe someone from her school that also studied criminal law?
Me
That’s some of the most fucked up shit I’ve ever watched. Give me a bit to think on it, I might have to do some digging with Melody. It really seems like whoever this is, knows her well.
Can we look into her social media for anything suspicious from her friends list? Maybe someone from school?
Franklin
I’m sayin… yeah man, I’ll do some digging.
Me
Thanks for sending me this man.
Hey, can you also hire some of Kayden’s guys to do a complete gut and replace on Melody’s place? They will need to do some cleaning of the walls in her bedroom, too.
Franklin
Absolutely. Will do.
I’ll let you know once they’re finished. Probably around 3-4pm.
Me
One more thing Franklin, I’m sorry, but can you pick up some clothes for Melody? I’ll transfer you money for it.
Franklin
Sure thing. Just send me over her sizes.
After sending him her sizes, I set my phone down and I finally finish cooking up the bacon and pancakes. Slathering the pancakes in butter and syrup and setting the bacon on the plate, I bring Melody breakfast in bed.
When I walk into the bedroom, Melody is already sitting back against the pillows, with the blanket wrapped around her chest. She instantly smiles when she sees me, and god damn if my heart doesn’t stutter at the pure beauty of it.
“How did you know?” she asks sweetly.
“How did I know what?” I ask her back.
“That I like my pancakes smothered in butter and syrup. Most people don’t put enough on them.”
“I just know you that well, little sparrow.”
Melody eats her meal in silence, though I keep catching her stealing little glances at me.
“What’s the matter, baby?”
“Just enjoying the view I get with my breakfast.”
“Is that so…” I guess I can understand that. I am in nothing but boxer briefs after all.
I reach across the bed and grab the back of her head, bringing her in for a kiss. My girl tastes like syrupy goodness, and I’m a starved man.
We spend the rest of the morning exploring each other’s bodies and talking about everything under the sun.
I learn even more about Melody than I knew before, and everything I learn just solidifies the amazing woman I knew she was. If I thought there was any chance of me not falling even more in love with this woman, those chances just flew out the window. I’m thoroughly and completely in love with my little sparrow.
