I shake my head. “No, no boyfriend. Justwork.”
“What do you do? Aside from this, ofcourse.”
“Marketing,” I say. “Just started with a new company last week. I’m still getting used toit.”
“Congrats on that,” he says. “Truthfully, I figured you did something other than this. You don’t seem like the normalhost.”
“What’s a normal host like?” I ask him,teasing.
“Kind, fun, but vapid.” He looks serious, eyes drilling into mine. “You don’t seem vapid, not at all. You’re nowhere nearempty.”
I feel my heart starting to beat faster. “What do youmean?”
“You’ve got something. We can all see it, I think. In our industry, you have to be a good judge of character, and I like to think we’re all very good at it. And I can tell they all likeyou.”
“I like you guys too,” Isay.
“Good. That makes me happy. We’ve been so bored lately, butyou…”
He steps toward me, pulling me against him, and without thinking wekiss.
Nothing runs through my mind but the kiss. He’s so handsome, so rugged, so quiet. I’m dizzy with him as pleasure runs down my spine. But after a moment, I realize what I’m doing. I’m breaking the rules, letting him touch me. I should report this, but god, I don’t want it tostop.
Slowly, he breaks away. “I’m sorry,” he whispers. “I shouldn’t have donethat.”
“It’s okay,” I say honestly. “I won’ttell.”
“Thank you.” He smiles at me. “You can say no, you know. Some girls in this place, they think theycan’t.”
“I know I can.” I cock my head. “I just didn’t wantto.”
He tips my chin up and kisses me one more time, slower, sensual. Chills cover myflesh.
“Hey, cut that out, assholes,” someone yells. Hunter turns away from me, grinning as Will throws a pillow. “The good shit’s comingup.”
We go and join the group again, and nobody seems to think it’s weird that I was just kissing Hunter. I feel like a part of the group, even though I’m technically an employee here. We watch the movie, everyone quiet as the final battle plays out, and I can’t help but look at theirfaces.
Will, open and brash and grinning. Jordan, intense, with a sly smile. Chris, leaning back in his seat, drinking a whisky. Ethan, serious and concentrating. Hunter, quietly smiling, radiating confidence. These five men are incredible, and I can’t believe how well this night hasgone.
Finally, the movie ends, and the guys get up to leave. “Got to work tomorrow,” Ethan grumbles. “It’s Sunday night, afterall.”
“Fucking work,” Chris agrees. The guys get together and slowly start filingout.
“Thanks so much, everyone,” I say. “I had a greattime.”
The last one at the door stops in front of me. It’s Will, cocky grin missing. “I don’t know if you’ll be here again, but take this.” He pushes his card into my hand. “My personal cell’s on theback.”
I take it, surprised as hell. “Thanks,” Isay.
“Call me if you want to do this again.” With that, he turns and leaves, catching up with thegroup.
I stand there in the wreckage of the room, surveying the damage, ringing with desire andconfusion.
I shouldn’t have kissed Hunter. And I shouldn’t have taken Will’s number. But I can’t help myself. I tuck the number into my bra, hiding it away in case they check me before Ileave.
Stacey comes to find me before I head home. My shift ended a couple hours ago, but the rules are that I stay as late as my guestsstay.
“How was it?” she asksme.
