As a matter of fact, darlin’, I do have more.
“I’m not working with you,” Billie said. Whatever you’re up to, I won’t have any part in it.”
It wasn’t surprising that Billie had guessed I wasn’t exactly a law-abiding citizen, but she also had little choice in the matter.
“Sorry, sweetheart. This isn’t a negotiation. No pleading your case.”
Billie’s eyes flared, her jaw dropping as she fumed. Those full lips of hers would look so much better with something else stuffed between them, and my cock twitched beneath the thick pants I’d worn for the break-in. I’d yet to change, and a strange part of me was glad that Billie was seeing me now in just a black turtle neck and military-style pants.
There was no mistaking what I was about in this outfit.
“Ugh!”
She tore her arm out of my grip, walking across the room in those tiny fucking boyshorts of hers, and I cocked my head as I appreciated the view of her ass.
“You really just think I’m going to roll over and help you? Well, dream on, cowboy. I have my own stakes that I’ll be prioritizing.”
I couldn’t stop the chuckle, smirking at her as I folded my arms across my chest. “Cowboy? Seriously?”
She huffed, sweeping her gaze down to the floor as she mirrored the arm cross. It was clear she was content just to stand there, but I had shit to do, and she was coming along whether she liked it or not.
I stalked across the floor toward Billie until I was right up in her face. She backed up instinctively, flattening herself against the wall behind her. I left her no more room to retreat and just pressed forward, leaning over her as I planted my forearm on the wall.
“You want answers. Don’t you, Billie?”
Goddamn, I loved being this close to her, the smell of her shampoo wafting into my nose as I admired the slender curve of her neck.
“I…”
She stared up at me, unblinking as I smirked. I roamed her face with my eyes, eating up every inch of her as I dragged my attention down her throat and to the top of her full breast, barely revealed by the slop of her off-the-shoulder sweater.
“I think you suspect your boss as much as I do.” It was a guess but an educated one. “So, answers?”
Tilting my head, I lowered my nose closer to the fragile skin behind her ear, breathing deeply. I watched goosebumps bloom across her skin, hardening at the thought of tearing those flimsy clothes off her.
“Nicholas. Do you…Have you worked with him?”
Despite her cautious language, I knew what she was asking, and I shook my head. “No. I think you have Emiliano to give that honor to.”
Billie sucked in a shaky breath as I pulled back just enough to meet her eyes, flicking my attention to her mouth before I held her stare again.
“Would you like proof?”
There was a moment of hesitation as Billie considered the possibilities and her only available options, her gaze narrowing with calculation. And damn, watching the cogs turn in her mind was so damn entertaining.
She sagged, blinking slowly before releasing a long breath.
“Yes.”

The car was quiet as I drove us from Emiliano’s front office to his planned meeting. I’d managed to hear enough of his conversation using the tap I put in his phone to determine he was going to lunch with one of his informants.
“How did you even get that thing?” Billie asked, breaking the silence as we hit the block where the restaurant was located.
I glanced over before making the right turn into the parking lot of the downtown highrise around the back.
“Get what?” Cocking a brow, I looked for a spot far enough away from Emiliano that he wouldn’t see the car.
