“Says who?”

Billie pulled her chin down, refusing to meet my stare. “Ugh, Pietor. Come on. I need to—”

“What? What do you need, hmm?”

Unable to keep herself from looking at me, Billie’s eyes drifted up, and she released a shaky breath. I stepped closer, towering over her. Our skin was so damn close. I could feel the heat coming off her, and I uncrossed my arms, lowering my face toward her neck.

“I…”

She shook her head, but this time, when she tried to sidestep around me, I snatched her by both arms, making her squeak. Pinning her in place with my grip, I squeezed her biceps, dipping down to take a deep breath of her hair. Goddamn, she smelled divine, and it felt good to have my hands on her.

I wanted more, so much more.

“Pietor, what are you doing?” Billie’s words rushed out of her lips in a tight whisper, and she turned her face to the side.

Breathing deeply, I took in all that delicious scent before dragging my hands down her arms. I stepped back, smirking, as I knew it was pretty obvious how much I wanted her right now.

“Just answering a question that had been rolling around in my head.”

She stared up at me, and her lips parted. I could see the war of logic and arousal going on behind her eyes. It was fucking gorgeous.

“W-what—”

“If you’d like it when I grabbed you as much as I thought you would.” I nodded down at her chest. “But I think I sold it short.”

Glancing down at herself, Billie immediately noticed the prominent outline of her nipples standing out in her shirt. She gasped, her arms flying up to cover herself, and then she rushed off to the bathroom.

I chuckled as I heard the sink start up, then walked to my closet to change.

“Don’t take too long, sweetheart,” I called out behind me, “If I get bored, I’m liable to join you in there.”

With that, I went to my closet, deeply considering working one out before slipping on some fresh clothes. My cock was hard as a diamond right now, and if this little dance of ours went on for too much longer, I was going to throw that perfect ass down on the bed and fuck it till she screamed before the day was out.

When we were both decent, well, I was never decent, but I was at least dressed, I’d taken Billie down to the car and driven us to the law firm. I wanted to keep an eye on fishy-ass Nicholas. Billie seemed oddly resistant, like she wasn’t already thinking the same thing I was. Her boss was dirty, and yet here she was going on about proving his innocence.

“You know that Nicholas knows what’s up as much as I do. He has to. With everything going on, the guy would have to be a moron not to see the signs. And unfortunately for me, he’s not a moron.”

Billie shifted in her seat, looking down at the cab floor as she talked with her hands just enough to betray her nervousness.

“Look, I don’t want to assume the worst about him before there is concrete proof. I need evidence—beyond any reasonable doubt.”

Rolling my eyes, I returned my attention to the front of the building. Nicholas was still in there, and we were waiting for him to make a move outside the firm so we could track him.

“Yeah, yeah. That’s naïve for someone seasoned in the law. Read the signs, darlin’.”

She scoffed, and out of the corner of my eye, I noticed her crossing her arms over her chest.

“Why does it even matter to you if he is? Hmm? I thought this was about Emiliano.”

“It is.” I faced her, meeting that chocolate gaze of hers head-on. “If I can prove that lawyer boss of yours is aware of Emiliano’s dealings, I can shut down the entire firm. And the case would lose credibility. Two birds, one stone.”

“It doesn’t bother you that you’d also be putting a lot of people out of work?” She chewed the inside of her cheek, the move accenting her dimple.

“So hire them at your own firm. I’m not the judicial type, but you?”

Billie gaped at me, her lips parting. Apparently, she couldn’t find any words because the car fell into silence. I was content enough to leave it that way, focusing on the door so that I could see Nicholas inevitably break for lunch.
