A lump formed in her throat, a swell of emotion rising in her chest at the sincerity in his words. “Roarke, I... thank you. That means more to me than you know.”

Roarke reached across the table, his hand finding hers and giving it a gentle squeeze. “I mean every word, Daisy. You’re an incredible woman, and I feel lucky to be here with you tonight.”

Daisy intertwined her fingers with his, marveling at the way their hands fit together so perfectly like puzzle pieces clicking into place. “I feel the same way, Roarke. There’s nowhere else I’d rather be than right here with you.”

As they continued to talk and laugh, the flirtatious energy between them growing with each passing moment, Daisy found herself lost in the depths of Roarke’s eyes and in the strength and warmth of his presence. She leaned in closer, her free hand coming up to rest on his arm, feeling the firm muscles beneath his shirt.

“You know, Roarke,” she murmured, her voice low and intimate, “I’ve been wondering something all night.”

Roarke’s eyebrows raised, a hint of anticipation in his eyes. “There’s a lot I’ve been wondering since I first saw you. Let’s see if we’re wondering the same thing.”

Daisy bit her lip, a coy smile playing on her face. “I’ve been wondering what it would be like to kiss you.”

Daisy’s heart thudded so hard, she thought it would jump out of her chest. Roarke’s eyes darkened, a heat flaring in their depths that made Daisy’s pulse race. He leaned in closer, his breath ghosting over her lips, a whisper of a touch that sent shivers down her spine. “Definitely in my top three. Why don’t we find out?” he murmured, his voice rough with desire.

And then her lips were brushing his. The kiss was soft and warm and perfect, a gentle exploration that quickly deepened into something more passionate, more urgent. Daisy melted into the kiss, her hands coming up to tangle in his hair, pulling him closer as she lost herself in the sensation of his touch, his taste, his scent.

When they finally pulled apart, both breathless and flushed, Daisy couldn’t help the giddy laughter that bubbled up from her chest. “Wow,” she breathed, her eyes shining with wonder and joy. “That was...”

“Magic,” Roarke finished, a grin spreading across his face. “Pure, unadulterated magic.”

Daisy nodded, her heart so full she felt it might burst. “I’ve never experienced magic like this.”

“I think I could get used to this kind of magic,” Roarke said and took the reins, pulling her into his arms. His gaze dropped down to her lips, lips she licked that very moment. Then in a slow-motion move worthy of any sweet romance, he lowered his head to hers again and brought his lips down to kiss her. There was so much more to this kiss. Hungrier, deeper.

Oh, what a kiss this one was. His firm lips brushed over hers at first, tempting her to open and let him in. She sighed, letting out a little moan. That’s all it took. Sweet went out the window and fervent took control. Tongues tangled in frenzied caresses so hot, it felt like he branded her.

He pulled her into his muscular body. He was so hot. So hard. So strong. She crawled her fingers up his torso. Giddiness filled her. She’d finally gotten her hands on his gorgeous body. Tight muscles shifted under her palms, adding a new rush of arousal to her already heated core. He tugged her closer, rubbing his hardness on her, sending jolts of sexual awareness through her body.

She broke away from the kiss, panting. “Roarke, I?—”

The look he gave her said it all. Him. Her. Really hot sex.

“I want you, Daisy. I’ve never wanted a woman the way I want you. You’re all I think about.” He licked his sexy lips that had just seconds before been devouring hers.

“Really?” Need turned her voice husky. Their gazes locked and temptation didn’t just knock at her door, no. It broke it down.

He pressed his body into hers. Arousal sent electric shocks through her. “Being with you is consuming me. I want to spend more time with you.”

She wanted the same thing. “Let’s go to my room.”

Once the words were out, she wanted to drag him to her bedroom and strip him.

“Are you sure?” He squeezed her backside over the soft material of her dress.

If she thought any more about him and her in bed, she’d burn out all her brain cells. “So sure. So very, very sure.”

The rush to the room took only seconds. Another clash of lips had her moaning. His tongue rubbed sensually against hers, owning her lips. A soft whimper sounded in the back of her throat. She gripped his shirt in her hands, tugging at the material. It had to come off as soon as possible or she’d tear it off. He tore away from her, clenched his teeth together, and groaned.

“Tell me you want this now or we’ll stop.”

“What?” She breathed hard, trying to drive air into her lungs.

“Say the words, Daisy.”

“I want—I want you.” She drove her hands into his hair, tugged his head down, and shoved her tongue into his mouth. She ran her nails across his scalp in a rough caress that was very unlike her. “I really want you.”
