She didn’t press the button.
While the others raced off to see where their luggage had been dumped, I swung Elena around, smothering her face with kisses. Yes, the cameras were in our face, but I had so much fucking relief.
“You didn’t press it.”
“How do you know?” She grinned. “Two people pressed at the same time.”
“Because you want to forgive me for being an asshole before we met. You want me to rip off those cute pjs in the middle of the night.”
“I do, do I?” She pressed against me, not even trying to keep space between us. “Pretty sure of yourself?”
“Nah,” I released Elena so we could walk out the front to farewell whoever had taken the cash. “I’m pretty sure of us.”
Tony looked like a man who’d won the lottery. Both he and Staci had pressed the button at the same time.
“Leaving so soon?” I gave him a bro-hug. “It won’t be the same without the two of you.”
“No way we’d beat the bitch couples. They’d be looking to chop us off in the next elimination. Better we run now and use the cash towards our wedding.”
“The two of you?” Elena hugged Staci, both women in tears.
“Yes. We need the families to meet, but I love him.”
“Keep in touch, yeah?” Elena made Staci promise before it was my turn to say, goodbye.
“Promise me something, Kye?” Staci whispered.
“Best man at your wedding?” I joked.
“If this isn’t real for you, let her down easy, okay. Away from the cameras. She deserves at least that much.”
“And if it is real as fuck? Have any of you actually thought that I might have fallen for her?” I couldn’t be angry with Elena’s friend looking out for her, but I could still be pissed that no one believed I could be a nice guy.
“Then don’t let her go.”

And then there were three of us women getting ready for the final ceremony. I didn’t know how we were going to go from four couples down to the final couple. Then again, the rules had been changed so many times, we’d given up trying to second guess the producers.
Kye had woken me before dawn, and we’d walked along the beach until it had been time for his diary entry. I’d gone up to the main building and decided to join him for a final couple diary entry.
I loved the way he always drank me in, even if we’d only been apart for minutes.
“Babe, you know the way to my heart,” he said, greeting me with a kiss and the offered coffee with a silent salute.
“Saves you having to make the trip.”
“Bringing you coffee in bed has been one of the highlights of the whole experience.”
“Which is a nice segway into the interview.” Bree motioned for us to take our seats. “How do you think this experience has changed you?”
