“Mmhmm.” She nods.

“But those are owned by The Society. He’s an idiot. It’ll be a war.”

Snapping a picture of the file, she clasps it shut and places it neatly back in the drawer.

“Which is why you are going to help me stop him. Enzo Silvestri will not ruin this city.”

Walking past me, she grazes her nails against my stomach and a hint of lavender hits my nose as she passes. “Come on. We have more training to do.”

Chapter six

Shado

“Fuck, woman. You are like the energizer bunny.” I say, lying down looking up at the ceiling. My chest is heaving and my muscles are stiff from the insane session she just put me through.

I thought training with Drake was intense. Nothing compares to a training session with this tiny bombshell.

“Awww, come on. You can go another round, huh?” She giggles, taking a swig of her water. The dim light of the bunker makes her skin glisten. I watch as the beads of sweat drip between her breasts into her sports bra.

Fuck.

It’s been two weeks since we raided her dad’s mansion and discovered his backup plans. According to the bug she planted, The Society outbid him on the docks. So now our organization owns two thirds of the docks. There is still one more player on the board; Allister Craye. Allister is newer to town after his organization was run out of Westburgh, the sister town to Edinburgh. He arrived here about a year ago, not really making himself known until about nine months ago.

He quickly obtained a share of the docks by sheer luck when Drake killed Dimitri Parshikov, another member of the Fourth Circle.

Craye’s organization deals with stealing scientific technology and racketeering; he does not have a large need for the docks. It is more of a power play than anything. One attractive bid and I could see him giving up his new found territory. We just need to convince Everly to be the highest bidder.

“Woman, I need food,” I say as I sit up on the mat, resting my elbows on my knees, admiring her. “Or I may just have to eat you.”

She whips her head around in my direction. “Okay, you cannibal.”

The last two weeks have been filled with a tension neither of us will give in to again, but it doesn’t make me any less inclined to keep her on her toes with my off the cuff comments.

Within thirty minutes, we are sitting at a small diner by the Edinburgh train station, Railcar Junction. The waitress sets down our plates in front of us, shocked that we ordered as much as we did. Two very large burgers, fries, and chocolate shakes.

“Anything else?” She asks, admiring Calista.

Even dead, the woman captivates people.

“No thanks, suga.” Calista winks and flips her hair.

Blushing, the waitress walks off, but not before getting a second look at Calista.

“Ohhh, I see,” I say, grinning and leaning back into the booth.

“See what?” Calista turns her head back toward me.

“I’m not your type.” I chuckle.

Calista chokes on a laugh as she sips her shake. “You are my recruit. I don’t fuck recruits.” She looks in the waitress’ direction, “I enjoy dick mostly, I would happily play with her, though.”

My dick twitches at the thought of Calista with another woman. Shifting in my seat, I try like hell not to picture what it would be like to be with both women.

I fail miserably.

I clear my throat. “When we first met, you said your mission didn’t align with your old league’s views. From what I’ve heard, they are killers just like us. So, what exactly makes your revenge so different?”
