“You obviously needed the back up,” he retorts.
I huff, standing there with my arms tightly folded, like a child throwing a tantrum.
If she didn’t trust me to finish the job, then why did she assign it to me?
Chapter four
Shado
“You could have at least kept things fucking clean.” Calista snaps as she slides into the passenger seat, pulling off her leather jacket and throwing it onto the floorboard.
When I walked over to her before I sliced the guy's throat, the familiar feeling of saving her washed over me. But now, I almost regret it, if she doesn’t shut the fuck up and act the least bit grateful.
As she leans forward in the seat, she rips off her blood stained shirt. My gaze trails down at the blood splattered across her swollen breasts fighting against her bra, her nipples almost spilling out over the lace. I won’t lie, it is fucking hot even if she is annoying as shit.
Shifting in my seat, I push the incredibly inappropriate thoughts away.
“Why thank you Shado for saving my life…You’re welcome, Cupid.” I mock her voice and shake my head as I turn the key and the engine roars to life. “Fucking bitch.” I mutter.
“How did you know….” She begins to say, but stops, realizing if we are part of the same Order and assignment, it must have been easy to learn about her. What she doesn’t know is how much I already know and how I really found out.
I reach down in the center console and grab a towelette.
Attempting to wipe her delicate skin clean, she swipes my hand away.
“What the fuck do you think you are doing?” She rips the wipe out of my hand and begins to clean herself off, the blood just smearing across her skin as it’s started to dry and cake.
“I’m cleaning off my mess.” I attempt to hide my reaction to the words that just flew out of my mouth by clearing my throat when I realize how dirty that sounded.
Knowingly, she flicks me a mischievous smirk. “If you want to touch my tits, suga, next time just ask.”
Ripping my shirt off, “Cover up.” I say as I throw it at her. “Damn.”
She chuckles, cocking her head at me. “Aww, what? Don’t get all flustered on me now, sug.”
Pulling out of the docks, I turn the van in the direction of headquarters. We remain silent for most of the drive. Thoughts of the evening and the events leading up to it are taking over me.

“I was able to hack into her location, but I can’t ask that nerdy tech guy who she was assigned to. So, I’ll ask you, my nerdy annoying pain in the ass.” I smirk as I lean over the computer desk at Vanguard Enterprises.“It would raise some suspicion, if I was sniffing around headquarters since I wasn’t assigned to this hit.” I explain.
“Could you ask nicely?” CiCi quips, as she taps her pen on the desk, looking up at me. She feigns sweetness as she flutters her eyelashes.
Sitting on the beige couch against the wall, Drake grins. “You know you can’t just barge in here demanding shit, without saying ‘please’ to my wife.”
Gritting my teeth, I try to spit out the words as politely as I can. “CiCi, can you please tap into her tablet so I can figure out who she is being assigned to?”
I glance at my watch and can see she is heading toward the Edinburgh Ship Channel.
My stomach drops as I know who owns the docks. One being the man I am trying to take down myself.
“Oh, look baby, Shado does have manners.” CiCi laughs. “However, I am kind of offended you asked if I COULD do it. It’s if I will.”
She smirks as she flips her hair over her shoulder.
I don’t know what Drake sees in this snappy woman.
She aggressively taps the enter key and the data pulls up on the screen. Twirling around in her chair, she smiles, satisfied with herself.
