“Are you here for business or pleasure?” He was so shameless.

“Can’t I be here for both?” Frankie asked, flirting right back.

I turned around so the barista couldn’t see me gag.

This whole process always gave me the ick. You’d think I’d be used to it by now considering how long we’d known each other but watching Frankie put on this show always felt weird. This wasn’t who she really was.

But it worked every fucking time.

“I’m disappointed you didn’t come here just to see my pretty face,” the barista pouted as he grabbed a cup and filled it with ice. “But I guess that’s what happens when you’re the hottest girl-boss around.”

“His face is definitely not prettier than mine,” Liam muttered as he pulled me closer.

I choked on a laugh and pulled my phone out of my pocket to cover it up, searching for the guy’s IG profile. It wasn’t hard to find or set to private so I scanned the basic information first.

Liam leaned down to get a look too. “He’s lucky he’s a beta.”

Or what? He’d stop this guy from ever looking at me? We were bonded now. I didn’t know why he was still acting like this.

“It’s not that serious,” I muttered as I scrolled through his photos.

“I don’t care. If he makes you gag for real, I’m ripping out his tongue.”

“Only after he gives us what we need.” It was weird to me that people put their whole lives on social media, but it definitely made my job easier.

“Fine,” Liam grumbled. “We’ll rip out his tongue after he gives us what we need.”

I realized I was grinning and dropped the smile instantly, hoping no one had noticed.

Jesus, that was so fucking embarrassing. Grinning like a lunatic because my alpha was being so ridiculously adorable and overprotective.

“Could you maybe let us take a look at your modem?”

Frankie’s blunt question forced me to refocus.

The barista looked confused, and I stepped away from Liam to join Frankie. “And any security footage you might have.”

“What’s in it for me?” the barista teased, directing the question to Frankie and ignoring me completely.

It was for the best honestly. My stalkers might decide to rip out his tongue for real.

“Hm…what about a favor?” Frankie watched as he added water to her drink. “As you know, I have a lot of connections. A favor from me is pretty valuable.”

He smiled and grabbed the caramel sauce, flipping it over before drizzling it all over her drink. “How about a date? Go out with me once and you can take a look for however long you need. I’ll even give you a copy of whatever security footage we have.”

Was he allowed to do that? Not that I cared, but it was always weird to me that people were willing to risk it all without knowing a single thing about her.

Everyone on the planet fell in love with Frankie. I had no idea what it was, because it definitely wasn’t the typical alpha charm. She just had this aura that made people fall all over themselves for even the tiniest of chances with her.

I checked the barista’s IG profile and saw he was mutuals with someone from the Tinley pack. Clicking on the picture I read the caption and suddenly it all made sense. This guy was a cousin to the Tinleys which explained why he had access to their security and why he was so into Frankie.

He must be able to sense how strong she was.

“We can go on a date, but only if you don’t mind the fact that I’m about to get engaged,” Frankie told him, a dangerous little half-smile on her face – a warning and a promise.

“You’re breaking my heart here, Frank. I had no idea you were getting engaged.” The barista pouted again, and I forced myself to keep a straight face instead of gagging again. His life was on the line after all.

“You know how it is.” Frankie took the iced americano with caramel sauce from him with so much meaningful eye contact he got all flustered and his whole face turned red.
