Lucy may be stronger and more resilient than most, but she deserved to be treated as something precious and delicate – just like all the other omegas.
I slowly and carefully thrust inside her as I wrapped my hand around her neck, her entire body sucking me in instead of resisting me, and I squeezed my eyes shut so I wouldn’t fuck around and come the second I worked my knot inside her.
“Lucy…my sunflower,” Liam whispered as he reached around to set his hand on my lower back, using it as leverage to position himself against her entrance. “I still can’t believe I found you.”
He cut off her soft moan with a kiss and thrust inside – right against the thin layer separating us.
I felt the tip of his cock rub against my entire length, just as slow and gentle as I was being with her but forceful enough the pressure made me grit my teeth. It felt so good—so fucking good I wanted to mark her all over again.
My teeth were aching, but not as much as my cock.
Liam moved with me, letting me set the pace as he kissed her.
Watching them while being inside of her was more than I could have ever hoped for, and it was still hard to believe they were both mine – that this gorgeous, enigmatic omega was mine.
I let out a shaky breath and Lucy reached back, turning toward me. I didn’t let the opportunity go to waste.
Releasing her throat to grab her jaw, I turned her face toward mine and slipped my tongue into her mouth, forcing myself to keep it soft instead of devouring her like I wanted to. She needed to go right back to sleep, so we couldn’t be too rough with her.
Her warmth surrounded me, sucking me in deeper and deeper like it was nothing as she did the same to Liam. He sucked on her neck, whispering secrets against our bond marks as I tasted the sleepy desire on her tongue.
When my knot finally slipped all the way inside her ass, I came so hard my vision went white for a second and the strangled sound I made would have been fucking embarrassing if Liam hadn’t made a very similar noise as she clamped down on us, coming hard enough Liam knotted her instantly.
This time, there was no blood. There was no tearing of skin or teeth sinking into flesh but this…this connection we had solidified until I felt it seep into my very marrow – irrevocably altering my entire body.
I wrapped my arms around them both and held them close, knowing I was the luckiest bastard on the planet to have an omega who trusted me so implicitly as well as a legacy alpha who’d asked me to bond him – trusting that I could.
Whatever happened…I would keep them safe.
I would protect them.
CHAPTER 12
Lucy
I stared out the window at the bustling streets below me, feeling melancholy despite everything. The view wasn’t all that different from the one I’d had as a child. It wasn’t the same street, but it didn’t have to be when the café across from us has been there for over fifty years. I used to stop by every morning on the way to school and then again on my way back so I could get some homework done in peace.
Would it feel the same as it did back then, or would it be tainted by memories of my father and what it was like to live without the weight of the omega designation hanging over me…when I used to be Daphne, not Lucy?
I turned away from the window and tucked my grey turtleneck into my black skinny jeans, securing it all with a belt to make it look a bit more stylish. My Docs were comfortable enough to walk in all day if I needed to and the steel toes would break bones.
It wasn’t exactly what an omega from a wealthy pack would wear, but it was tailored and the fabric was excellent quality. It was all from the same label Frankie liked too, so I knew it was legacy approved, but even still, I was nervous.
There was no way I’d be able to avoid meeting Nicolette Valor today, not when we had to enter her house to question Melinda. The very same house Liam had grown up in.
I flopped down on my new couch and ran my hand over the faux fur, enjoying the sensation against my palms as I eyed the empty space that was my very first nest.
Liam was doing better, but I had to wrap this up as quickly as possible or it would only make things worse for him.
Dane Valor was one piece of the puzzle and now…I set one of my boots on the tea table and laid my head back against the couch to stare up at the ceiling I’d already started painting varying shades of deep blue.
I didn’t think Melinda was actually smart enough to get away with killing her husband. Not like this. It would take too much planning even if she did hire someone from the Grimm pack to kill him.
At first, I’d thought Grimm could get into the building undetected, but after digging around in the Aegis servers, I knew that wasn’t possible unless they had pack members planted in the security company.
Cas’s background checks were too thorough for any registered pack members so it would have to be ghosts, but even then…
Closing my eyes, I flipped through every crime scene photo I’d gotten my hands on.
