Of course I did. I had fifteen years of experience dealing with him. If we’d left, I would have a river of bodies to clean up in the morning.

Or just his.

“Cas, do you want to bond me?”

I held completely still as I tried to understand exactly what he was asking me. “Is this a trick question?”

He grinned and then instantly dropped it, staring into my eyes with such intensity my instincts warned me that one wrong move and I might get his teeth in my throat. “I’m being serious.”

“And what happens if I say yes?” I wanted to get out of this vulnerable position, but that would only tell Liam I didn’t trust him, and this…this might be real.

Liam leaned down and brushed his lips against mine, making me stiffen in surprise. “I would let you.”

I had him on his back underneath me before I even realized what I was doing. I glanced over at Lucy, but she was still out cold.

Looking back down at Liam, I had no idea how to deal with this. “I don’t believe you,” I admitted. “You would have to concede to me and we both know you can’t.”

It wasn’t in his nature. Liam was a legacy alpha. He was bred to be so much more than the rest of us. If I tried to bond him, he’d reject it just like he did the last time. Not because he wanted to, but because his body wouldn’t let him submit like that.

Those red eyes dared me to try it. To see if I could. They told me that maybe this time I might actually win, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to.

“I’m tired of not knowing how you feel,” Liam confessed, his voice so quiet I could barely hear him.

“You’re just jealous Lucy can feel my emotions and you can’t.” I took a moment to admire the man underneath me, studying him like I’d never seen him before.

“Maybe a little,” Liam admitted. He skimmed his hands over my sides and then held my face, pulling me down until all I could see was red. “But I can’t do this alone. I failed, Cas. I couldn’t protect him and I can’t let that happen again.”

He really meant it.

“You’re willing to concede to me for Lucy?” I needed to make sure I wasn’t hearing things. I had to know that I wasn’t misunderstanding him or this could end very, very badly.

“You know there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for her.” Liam gave me a quirky half-smile that reminded me a lot of Frankie for some reason. “And your control has always been better than mine.”

He was still all fucked up over what we’d learned about Gideon. That was the only explanation for this. I couldn’t take him up on his offer right now when he was feeling so vulnerable.

I sighed and slid my hand from his throat down to his chest where his heart was beating steadily. If nothing else, right now in this moment, he meant every word he was saying.

And that was enough.

CHAPTER 11

Cas

“You want me to bond you?” I slid my hand down his stomach, every ridge of muscle just as enchanting as the last time I saw them.

“That’s what I said,” Liam growled, his deep voice quiet so as not to wake Lucy. “Do you need a written invitation?”

“Maybe.” I sat back on my heels and shoved his knees apart so I could see the mess I’d made earlier. “Did I hurt you?” I’d been careful with my knot, but I wasn’t small. It’d been a while since he’d let me top too.

“I’m fine.”

Pressing my thumb to his hole, I slipped it inside and stretched it to the side so my cum could ooze out. “You’re still wide open for me.”

Liam hissed in a breath. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”

I wrapped my hand around the base of my cock and watched as if I were in a trance as I slid my thumb out to thrust two fingers in.

“Cas.”
