“Say it.” Liam demanded as he kissed one of the spider lilies on my throat.

“I love you.” I bit down on his jaw just hard enough to sting. “I’ll marry you. I’ll even give you a discount for my services as a detective if you ever need to hire me again.”

Liam snickered and bit down on my throat, right over my bond marks, more than pleased with my response.

I turned to Cas then. “I love you, Cas. And I’ll marry you. I’ll even officially work as Lucy Valentine instead of Lucy Parker.”

Cas growled his pleasure and bit down on the inside of my wrist until the smell of blood blossomed in my nest, a dark promise of what he planned to do with me later. “If we had the time I’d fuck you so hard my cum is dripping down your thighs all night.”

“Well we don’t have time so put those pheromones away,” Liam gently scolded. “Come on, Lucy. Let me show you the dress we picked out.”

I couldn’t believe this was my life but the smell of blood and the sharp pain on my wrist told me it was all real.

This was my new reality and I couldn’t get enough of it.

CHAPTER 40

Lucy

I took Liam’s hand and let him help me out of the limo. This time I really did need his help because the dress he and Cas had picked out was heavier than I was used to and I kept freaking out that I’d fall right on my face the second I stepped on the red carpet.

A thousand flashing lights erupted when they saw what I was wearing…and just how different it was.

Gothic high fashion at its finest.

I had no idea where they got it from or who the designer was but the sparkly purple lace covered my arms and chest while keeping my throat bare to show off my bond marks and tattoos.

The whole thing was gorgeous and I loved how the skirt in the front was short, showing off the over-the-knee leather boots I was wearing. It was short enough it showed off a slice of bare skin between the hem and the tops of the boots too without being so short I was afraid they’d all see my underwear.

If that wasn’t enough, the dress had a puffy black bustle in the back with a long train …too long. I had no idea how to walk in something like this without stepping on the skirt every time I turned around but Liam kept reminding me I could untie it and take it off the second we were done with the red carpet.

Thankfully, Cas had made sure the heels on my boots were on par with riding boots so I didn’t feel like I was going to embarrass myself and fall when I let him lead me to the entrance for the red carpet.

God they both looked so good in their all-black tuxes with their purple handkerchiefs to match my dress. I couldn’t wait for this to be over so I could rip them off their bodies and show them how much I appreciated all the thought they put into the details of what I was wearing.

“Careful,” Liam murmured. “Don’t get too excited or I’ll make you put on your scent blockers. I’m not ready for the rest of the world to know just how good you smell.”

I felt the burning desire to play a new game: the dark omega princess who stole a legacy alpha from his pack, taking his favorite dog with me too.

Turning slightly, I brushed my long curls over my shoulder before holding out my hand for Cas. All the flashing lights lit up the night sky like stars and made the ring on my finger sparkle so much they could see it from a mile away.

Cas took my hand and made a show of bowing over it to kiss my knuckles. The flashing lights went crazy until I was positive it was going to make my eyes even worse than they already were.

“You look good enough to eat,” Cas murmured. He stood and gently slid his free hand into my hair, kissing the corner of my mouth – careful not to smudge the makeup I’d worked so hard on. “Black lipstick was definitely the right choice.”

I wish he wouldn’t say things like that where people could hear him but I couldn’t say I didn’t like it either. It was just embarrassing when all the reporters started yelling at Liam, asking him a million questions about why Cas would say something like that to me, his omega.

Liam didn’t respond though. He didn’t even look at them. He just slipped my arm through his and escorted me down the red carpet with Cas on my other side, and he placed his hand on my lower back as he glared at the reporters.

We had to stop a few more times to get our picture taken and every time, my alphas wordlessly directed me into the right poses, murmuring encouragement the whole time.

Okay, maybe I wouldn’t mind doing this four times a year if they were going to keep praising me for refusing to smile and scaring one of the reporters when I glared at her.

Someone asked why we didn’t arrive with the Valor pack then and Liam gave them a sharp, predatory grin that I was pretty sure he’s never let the public see and told them, “Because my name is Liam Valentine. Not Valor.”

I’ve never heard silence like that on the red carpet before. There wasn’t even the sound of cameras flashing.

“How long have you been waiting to say that?” Cas muttered as we entered the ballroom.
