She blows out a heavy breath. “Well, that’s one way to make an exit.”

“No shit. Let’s get in the shower. We need to meet them at the penthouse. I figured since you know each other, maybe you could make her feel a little more comfortable with everything. Reassure her a bit.”

“I don’t know her that well, but sure, I can try.”

She stands from the bed and walks toward me, every naked inch of her on full display.

Standing on her tiptoes, she presses her soft lips to mine and leans her body into me.

I let out a low growl. “Get in the shower, wife. I need to call Eoghan and tell him what’s going on.” He needs to hear it from me before he overhears one of the guards talking about it.

She saunters into the bathroom, and I watch her step into the shower, her bitable ass tempting me from here.

I hit Eoghan’s number on my phone, needing to make this call quick so I can go make my wife come once more before we leave.

“Fuck, why do you always call me so goddamn early?” he asks in lieu of a greeting.

“It’s almost noon, you lazy asshole.”

“What the fuck ever,” he groans out. “Some of us aren’t old married men who go to bed before eleven.”

We may go to bed early, but that sure as shit doesn’t mean we go to sleep until well into the early hours of the morning.

“I have to tell you something, and you might get mad, but I want you to know I kept it from you for your safety.”

“Not exactly the most trust-inspiring thing you’ve ever said to me, but shoot.”

“I had an inside man in the Cataldi organization. It was someone who contacted me several years ago. He grew up thinking he was one person when, really, he was born as someone else with an entirely different family.

“Okay…”

“Mom’s nephew didn’t die. Our cousin is alive and well and has been working with me to take down Cataldi. His name is Luca, and he’s coming home.”
