Page 100 of Awakening

“How did Olivia react when you told her she has a week?” Nick grins and crosses his arms.

“She was a little shocked that I wanted to do it so soon, but I told her to make it happen, and she didn’t argue about it,” I say with a shrug.

“You can be such a dick sometimes.” Nick laughs, shaking his head.

“Why, because I want to marry the woman I love as soon as possible? Because I want her to be a Sullivan?”

“No, because you demand the impossible,” Nick says, laughing again. I look to Lance for help, but he just shrugs and laughs too.

“No, it’s going to be fine. We’re the Alpha and Luna, for fuck’s sake. Our staff will make it happen.” Do I want her to use our status to pull strings? Yes. She and I have been through enough. I want her to be mine in every fucking way possible.

The door flies open, slamming into the wall as two guards haul Austin into the detention center. He glares at me and growls, openly defying me. “Why am I here? I told you, I didn’t do anything to Olivia at Tonic.”

“First of all, motherfucker,” I say, nodding to my guys to tie him up in the chair, “her name is Luna Newman to you, soon to be Luna Sullivan, but never…fucking ever…will you address her as Olivia.”

He struggles against my guards as they bind his arms behind the chair with zip ties, and then tie each of his ankles to a leg of the chair. “You’re fucking crazy,” he says, obviously trying to sound like he has nothing to hide, but at the same time he scans the room with wide eyes. “Tell me why I’m here.”

“Think hard, Austin. I think you know why you’re here.”

“Because you’re an insanely jealous son of a bitch who goes crazy when someone comes close to his precious Luna?”

I raise my eyebrows in thought, and shrug. “Yeah, I suppose I am, but that’s not what brings us together today. You see, your Luna got her memory back. She knows exactly who she is, and she remembers everything.” He says nothing as his mouth falls open and he scans the faces in the room. “Oh, and your boss is dead. Olivia killed Ian yesterday.”

“Killed him?” he asks with wide eyes.

“That’s right. She shifted and literally shook the life out of his worthless body. I have no doubt that’s what she’d like to do to you right now too, especially because you’re probably the one who told Ian she was headed back to Denver the day she killed him. Weren’t you?”

The smug asshole just grins at me. “So what the fuck if I was? People talk around here, you know.”

The rage builds in my body, starting in my stomach and pulsing through my limbs as I step forward, fists clenched. I raise my leg, and kick him in the middle of the chest, sending the chair flying backwards, and leaving Austin gasping for air on his back. I storm forward, standing over him. Unable to contain my rage, I start kicking him anywhere I can make contact.

As he’s groaning in agony, I get down on all fours and grab him around his neck, and squeeze. My arms shake, and his face turns purple as I prevent air from reaching his lungs. Zoning out, I think about nothing, but making him pay for what he did to Olivia and our baby. I’m shaken from my enraged trance, as Nick and Lance pull my hands from his neck, and lift me off of him.

“Get it under control,” Nick says, restraining me by one of my arms as Lance holds the other. “You’re going to fucking kill him.”

“He deserves to fucking die,” I roar as I struggle against them. “You drugged my mate, and turned her over to a fucking lunatic, you motherfucker. You’re just as responsible for my daughter’s death. I want you dead!”

“Sit him up,” Nick yells to the other guards. “You need to calm the fuck down and question him. We’re here to get information out of him so you can use it against him at the council meeting, not to leave him practically dead so he can use it against you. You know you can’t kill him.” I struggle against them again as they sit Austin up and I see his face. Nick and Lance tighten their hold on me. “Calm the fuck down,” Nick says.

I do my best to calm my ragged breathing, but every part of my body shakes with pure hatred for this man. “One of us needs to take over,” Lance says.

Nick nods. “I’ll do it.” He looks over at me with a sigh. “Can I let go of you so I can question him, or do we need to restrain you too?”

Nick is about the only man who could ever get away with suggesting that I be restrained, and he knows it. “You’re not fucking restraining me.”

“Get your shit under control then.” He slowly releases my arm, nodding as he backs away. “Lance is still going to hold on to you. I’m sorry, but you’re too unpredictable right now. I’m doing this for your own protection.”

“Just fucking get this done,” I say as my anger builds again.

“Start the recording again so we can get some answers,” Nick says to a guard, then walks over and crouches in front of Austin, who is breathing normally again. “Tell me what you did to Luna Newman.” Austin sits in silence, drawing his lips in and shaking his head. “We know you took her from the pack house, so just tell us how it all happened before I lose my fucking patience,” Nick warns.

“All I did was give her a sedative and take her out to the van,” Austin says. “That’s literally all I fucking did.”

“Who drove the van away with her in it?” Nick asks.

“You know who,” Austin says.

“Yeah, I do, but I want you to give me a fucking name,” Nick says, raising his voice, and grabbing a set of brass knuckles from the table. He puts them on his hand, stretches his fingers out, and then makes a fist again as he stand over Austin.
