He pulled her close, wrapping her in a hug. “Can tomorrow have more of that?”

“Of course.” She pressed one more quick kiss on his lips. “Now let me change so we can go.”

“Go?”

“I believe it’s time to go home. Home to Heritage.”

epilogue

The last thing Seth expected was to be voted by the fans into the final round, but here he was in Las Vegas, staring down the bright lights and big cameras as he waited for the green light to give him permission to run across the Floating Steps one more time. He bounced on his toes a few times and waved to the crowd as they cheered. But they weren’t the reason he was doing this.

He glanced to the side where his crew waited. Half of the group wore fluorescent green T-shirts with the words Thunder Arena: Home of The Storm. The other half wore pink T-shirts that advertised Grace’s dance studio, Dance with Grace. They had unveiled the sign a week ago with a party that even Otis had shown up for, and already her roster for fall was almost full. No doubt the word was spreading to neighboring areas that a prima ballerina would be teaching.

He glanced down at his own shirt.

Leah had fashioned him a half-fluorescent-green, half-pink T-shirt like he was the kaleidoscope of Heritage businesses. But he didn’t mind—after all, these were his people.

He didn’t even care if he finished in record time or finished at all. This journey had been about so much more than this run. His future was full of endless possibilities. His future was good. And the future started right beyond those steps.

The green light lit as the buzzer sounded, echoing through the arena.

Seth gave Grace one last look then jumped ... all in.
