“With you?”
“Yeah, with me.”
“Define with you.” The slow smile that eased onto his face had Cassidy regretting the request.
Almost.
The heated gaze that fastened with hers had her body reacting to the recollection of being with Davis.
“With me means me going to sleep beside you every night, waking up to you every morning, subbing a few of my workouts with ones that involve you getting worked out.” His hands landed on her hips, fingers pressing into her skin as he pulled her body flush against his.
“With me translates to me being in you several times a day whenever time permits, and I plan on making sure I have the time.”
Cassidy grinned, looping her arms around his neck and leaning deeper into his hold. “I might be okay with ensuring my time also permits that to happen.”
“I thought you would. But just in case, I thought maybe I’d give you a preview of what it feels like to be with me.”
“Don’t last night and this morning count?”
“They do, but I would have put a little something extra on it if I had known I was pleading my case of convincing you to stay.”
“What makes you think you needed something extra? Maybe you’ve already done enough convincing.”
“Have I?” He leaned his face toward hers.
Her smile expanded in a matter of seconds. “You can’t expect me to say yes, knowing there’s another offer on the table.”
Davis laughed, brushing his lips over her mouth. “No, wouldn’t expect you to pass that up. In fact, I have to insist that you don’t.”
She yelped when he lifted her but didn’t hesitate to lock her legs around his waist, feeling a sense of nostalgia for how many times the two of them had repeated the scene over the past couple of weeks.
“Well then, I guess it’s decided.”
“Damn sure is,” he murmured, navigating them through the house and back to the bedroom, which meant it would be another late-night meal for them. Another thing that had become the norm. Mainly because they spent so much time working up an appetite.
Cassidy would never complain. She didn’t have it all figured out, but this time around, she decided she didn’t have to. What she did know for certain was that she was in control and would never again settle for anyone being a part of her life simply because she was tired of being alone. Being alone was a far better option than accepting less than she deserved. For the first time in her life, she felt she deserved real happiness. That meant putting herself first and making anyone who wanted to be a part of her life earn it. So far, Davis was off to a good start, and for now, she focused on letting him prove just how much he wanted it.
