“Every morning there’s not a club emergency,” he replies, smirking. “This was my first time making poached eggs, so I hope they were okay.”

“Thank you, they look perfect,” I say, sitting up and fixing the pillow behind my back. “So what do you have on today? What does a Monday in the life of the MC president look like?”

“Well, unless something needs my attention I will be spending the day with you,” he replies, kissing the top of my head.

“You never told me what happened with the cops,” I say, realizing that I forgot to ask last night when everyone left.

“They are looking for Marko, asked if I had seen him. I said no,” he explains, sitting down on the edge of the bed as I eat. “They had heard that the MC and the FC had some kind of altercation, so I’m guessing members of the FC who are still loyal to Marko are talking to the cops, looking for him.”

“And do you know anything?”

He shakes his head. “No one knows where he is.” After a brief silence, he continues. “You know there may come a time where I will commit a crime, to protect someone I love. Are you going to be able to live with that?”

“Well, this got deep quickly,” I joke, trying to lighten the mood. “I don’t know, Rhett. I want to be able to support you, but I don’t know if I want to hear all the details about things. Let me think about this. I’m only new to this world, so I’d like to go slow when it comes to the information you share, please. I appreciate your willingness to be honest with me, though. Know I will always have your back and be loyal to you. That I am sure of.”

“Good,” he whispers. “Mom invited us over for lunch, and then I thought maybe we could go for a ride to the beach or something. What do you think?”

“Sounds perfect.”

He smiles and jumps in the shower while I finish eating my bacon, eggs, avocado and toast, hoping that I can be what he needs.

It’s a big responsibility being with Rhett, and it means that I too need to dedicate my life to the MC and the people in it. But yesterday being with everyone around the pool showed me that these are people worth protecting.

This is his family, and now it’s also becoming mine. I just need to be strong, strong as all the women he’s been surrounded with his whole life.

And strong for my child.

But like my mom said, I also need to trust my gut, and while I love the clubhouse and the MC, I don’t know if I want to live there and give up the life I have been building. It’s just a big adjustment.

After breakfast, I shower and get ready for the day, then head outside by the pool to enjoy a little sunshine. I sit down on one of the sun chairs only to realize I’m not alone.

In fact, there are two people in the pool. Naked.

“Oh my God, I’m so sorry!” I call out, running back inside. I can hear them laughing behind me. They were having sex and I literally walked out there and sat down, like I was about to enjoy the show. I’m mortified.

Sitting at the kitchen table, I ponder my new life and how I got here.

“What’s wrong?” Rhett asks as he sits next to me.

“Nothing,” I say a little too quickly.

“Con, your face is bright red. Tell me.”

I clear my throat. “I went outside to enjoy the sunshine.”

“Okay?”

“And then I sat down on the sun chairs—”

“Okay,” he repeats, brow furrowing in confusion.

“And I was just looking around until I realized Bear was in there with a woman. Naked. In the middle of fucking each other. And I sat down there.”

Rhett goes still and then bursts out laughing. “They probably got more turned on knowing they had an audience.”

“Rhett,” I growl. “I’m not a prude by any means, but how am I supposed to see all this and then look the men in the eye? Like there are clearly no boundaries here. Can I walk around naked, too?”

The humor leaves his face. “No, I’m the only one who gets to see all that. I mean, feel free to wear what you want, but you are not walking around here butt naked. I share everything with my men, except you. You are mine and mine only.”
