Failed Resistance

Nathan

My eyes lingered on her fingers, pushing the third button out of its hole. I then looked up at her face, and my mind wanted me to laugh, but I held it in. Did she really think that I was going to fall for her amateurish seduction somehow? Was she not aware of who I was and the powerful temptations to which I was exposed to on a daily basis? Women of all shapes, ages, and backgrounds vied for my attention, so…

So why was it working?

Against all reason, I caught my gaze devouring the shape of her eyes, the way she licked her lips, and the subtle movements of every fingertip. Defying logic, I felt my insides respond to the smell of her perfume as she inched closer, whispering, “If you’re just gonna stand there… leave.”

I wanted to leave, but my legs wouldn’t cooperate. Taking my hands out of my pockets, I grabbed her by the shoulders and stared deep into her eyes. “I thought you didn’t want more,” I challenged her, trying to pull her out of this trance.

“Thought?” She smiled. “I don’t want thoughts polluting this.”

At a glacial pace, my hands crawled down her arms and landed on her waist, pulling her closer as my lips found hers. Closing my eyes, I let my tongue explore her mouth, savoring the moment.

She pulled away, sucking on my tongue as she did. The tug had a delicious pain to it, so I opened my eyes, and they met hers. I couldn’t help but smile.

She slowly shook her head without breaking our eye contact and whispered, “Don’t.”

“Don’t what?” At that point, my eyes were drinking in her face, her hair, her eyes under the unusual light. Everything about her turned me on.

“Don’t give me this look. Don’t fall in love with me. We won’t survive.”

“I told you; I do better than survive.” My lips sought hers, and she pulled away. That familiar teasing; why did it sting?

“We’re wrong,” she whispered as our cheeks touched.

“I thought you didn’t want thoughts polluting this.”

She widened her eyes just as my hands held her tighter around her waist, picking her up and descending with her, laying her down on the floor. “Then why are you doing this?”

She grinned under the dim light. “I think I found a new hobby… toying with your emotions.”

Dipping my head into the nook over her shoulder, I sucked the skin on her neck, whispering as I nibbled, “Think I deserve it?”

“I do.” She tilted her head, pressing against mine as she did.

“That’s harsh.” I slid my hand under the dress, exploring the lacey fabric of her bra with my fingertips. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed the dim blue nights flashing, and the black light accompanying night, giving the entire open space a psychedelic sort of feel.

Surreal.

As if we weren’t there at all.

Sophie tilted her head back to look up at me, and a myriad of emotions danced across her face. “If you think it’s harsh, why are you here?”

“I don’t know,” I admitted, after a lengthy pause. “I wasn’t going to come.”

Especially after she shot me down for lunch and made it clear that she didn’t want anything serious with me. Given the amazing night we shared together, I was left feeling more than a little confused. Not only did I use all of my good moves on her, but I’d also never been blatantly rejected by a woman before.

It left me feeling disconcerted and off balance.

Like we were on uneven footing.

Sophie definitely had the upper hand over me, and I wasn’t sure I liked it. Even if she did look sexy as fuck in her shirt dress, with buttons along the front, fishnet stockings underneath, and a lacy bra underneath. Abruptly, Sophie leaned back and kicked off her boots, shoving them a few feet away with the heel of her foot. Then she wound her fingers through my hair, and I melted into her, the distinct smell of freesias and vanilla washing over me.
