My cock strained inside my pants, thumping against the zipper, and I groaned, pulling off my shirt and undoing my buckle.
“Andres?” she prompted, and I noticed she looked a little nervous.
“There’s no nice way to say this, but your father really fucked you when it came to the company, Angel. He absolutely did not want you to have it, and he worded it in such a way that I couldn’t give you ownership if I tried. So, what I did was, I gave it to Sammy. But since you’re his mother, and legal guardian, it is yours until he comes of age.”
“What?”
“Sammy owns Maxell Mining,” I repeated.
“I don’t understand. So, you didn’t do all this just for the company,” she whispered, her pouty lips opening.
“What? No. Of course not. Sammy is the sole owner and heir of Maxwell Mining and all its holdings with you as his mother and legal guardian, you can use his vote however you want. I never wanted Maxwell Mining, Ellie. But I hope you won’t mind, but I already started looking into ways to improve the company.”
“You never wanted it?”
“No. It’s not mine. But I can help make it better for you, for Sammy, when he gets older. If you let me. It’s kind of what I do for Volkov Industries. What kind of father would I be if I didn’t look out for my son’s future?”
“And you did all this before you even knew he wasn’t Gary’s?” she asked, and I could see her surprise.
“Lupina, all I ever needed to know in order for me to love Sammy like he’s my own child is to know he’s yours.”
I watched her connect the dots, saw the exact moments when she understood what I was trying to say, and it was like the light at the end of a long, cold, dark tunnel.
Ellie walked into my space, placing her hands on my shoulders. She leaned back so she could look at my face, and I loved that she was so much smaller than me.
So much softer than I was.
So much warmer.
Kinder.
Better.
Ellie was good.
So damn good.
It made me feel protective, possessive, and so damn lucky to have her.
“Are you trying to say you married me because you love me, Husband?”
I placed my hands on her waist and dragged her closer, not stopping until I felt the hard points of her breasts pressed against my chest through the skimpy piece of lace covering her.
“Yeah, Wife, that’s what I’m saying.”
I nuzzled her nose with mine, breathing her breath, and just held onto her. I was trying to give her the space and time she needed to come to terms with our new reality.
“This was never a marriage of convenience. I didn’t wed you out of pity or greed,” I growled, then thought about it a second. “Well, maybe greed. But not the kind of greed you think.”
I didn’t need Maxwell Mining or what would add up to over a billion dollars of personal wealth for her and her son once I finished going through their assets and increasing their holdings.
I had my own money. My own job. My own properties.
But I would never leave what was theirs to rot. And I would certainly never leave it in the hands of lesser men like Gary fucking Peters.
“What do you mean, then?” she whispered.
“I didn’t marry you for your father’s company or your inheritance, Ellie. I married you because I can’t fucking live without you. I’m greedy for you, Angel, only you,” I confessed, and it felt so goddamn good.
