CHASE
My jaw was clenched the entire time they were at dinner. That red headed fuck’s hands were all over her. I had followed them the entire time, prepared to burn the entire restaurant to the fucking ground. I refrained, but only because I would’ve been risking my entire world - Emma.
I watched on the camera in my phone as he made move after move on her. She carefully avoided the kisses and touches, making friendly conversation. She wasn’t interested, but my heart still broke. It felt like it had been torn from my vessel leaving me empty.
She was my sweet kitten, no one else's.
The more I watched, the more sick I felt. Each beat of my heart felt like a dagger wedged through my soul.
He kissed her then, catching her off guard, pressing his vile lips against hers. I could hear her gasp through the tiny camera as he groped her all over, her little hands pushing back against him refraining the advances.
My vision blacked. My hands shook.
Every piece of my soul was screaming in a rage to go in and tear Nate to shreds with my bare fucking hands. Her raised voice ripped me back to reality, she was pushing him out the door. Nate was going to fucking pay for touching what was mine. I didn’t give a fuck that she refused my pleas, Emma was mine.
I had to be smart. I began immediately running numbers in my mind, the mileage it would take for him to get home, the minutes, the seconds. I saw her slam the door and throw herself on her bed. I had to be smart, the manic thought ran through my mind like a raging storm. He would be down in thirty paces, I counted every time I went to and from her flat. His car was ten feet from mine.
I had to be smart.
What could I do?
I got out of my car, heading towards the busy street glancing up and down for anyone. Nate had just burst through her building doors, his fists clenched, his face red. I saw another man making his way to his own car several down from Nate’s. They simultaneously got in their cars, starting the engines with silent purs.
It was now or never.
As fast as my body would take me, I ripped open the driver's side door of the random dude’s vehicle. Catching him off guard, he just opened his mouth to scream before I slammed my fist into his face. Knocking him out completely. The cover of night was my friend despite the bright fucking lights of the city as I shoved his body into the backseat, laying him down out of sight.
A quick scan of the area, told me no one had seen or cared.
Nate was already at the light, heading back to the suburban area he lived in. My fists gripped the steering wheel, knuckles turning white as he took the exit leading off onto an empty stretch of road. The piece of shit I was driving barely got up to sixty in five minutes, the engine sputtered as I weaved through the dwindling traffic to catch up to Nate.
There was a four way stop up ahead, I calculated the mph he was going and the time it would take me to route myself around to meet him at that four way stop. I whipped the car where I needed it to go, briefly losing Nate. I could see it in my mind, the numbers, the route, Nate dead. The four way came into view as did Nate’s little sedan.
I pressed the pedal to the floor, clicking my seat belt in place.
It all happened in slow motion. I saw Nate’s face as the headlights made contact with his car, he sailed through the four way stop as I barreled through it “T” boning him. Everything around me felt hot, the smell of gasoline permeated the air, and the crunching of metal pierced my eardrums.
A buzzing sounded in my head. As if slammed back into my body, the sight of the wreckage was before me. The cars were smoking, the guy I knocked out was slumped halfway between the back and front seats. I fumbled with the seatbelt for what felt like an eternity before it finally gave and released me. I kicked the driver's door open, giving myself room to position him slumped over the steering wheel.
The world spun in slow motion as I stumbled to Nate. The glass crunched under my feet as I mentally checked off each functioning body part. With every move I made, my muscles ached and burned beneath the surface, but I was alive. Seatbelts really do save lives.
I could hear a wet gagging coming from the shattered windows. I leaned in to see him and smiled, “Hi there Nate.”
Blood ran down his face, his lip busted, his nose turned almost completely up on his face, “Please,” he choked out as his body thrusted against the locked seatbelt. His blood poured over his eye, the other swollen with shattered glass lodged in the lid.
“Now now,” I tsked, “you know I can’t do that Nate.” I shook my head. A popping sound rang out in the night from the other vehicle, the scent of gasoline intensified, “You touched something that belonged to me.”
I pulled out my pocket knife, opening the blade slowly. His eyes widened.
“But you’re,” he stumbled his words as the tremors took over him completely, “you can’t.” He was fading in and out of consciousness.
“These fucking lips were all over her tonight,” I roared over the first pop of explosion. The hood blew off of the other car narrowly missing my head as the engine caught fire, “You will never place these on anything of mine ever again.”
I reached in the car, slicing his upper lip off, he found the energy to scream over the sound of the fire just feet away from us. I flung the flacid body part into his lap hacking my way through the bottom lip.
“This one’s really on there,” I laughed, severing the mangled appendage from his gums. Blood flowed down his face, mixing with his tears and snot.
