“That doesn’t sound sketchy at all.” The woman who made Sophia Loren look like a plain Jane said flatly.

“It’s Golden Gate Rehab and Sports Medicine Clinic. I can get you in and out.”

“Perfect!” Trevor exclaimed.

“Let me go take Dolly home and I’ll grab my truck.”

“What? No.” The goddess shook her head.

“It’ll only take me a minute. I live just down the street.”

“We’ll be here,” Trevor assured me.

I grabbed Dolly’s collar, clipped the leash on her, and got out of there before the angelic goddess could protest anymore.

As I jogged away, I told myself that I’d be doing this for anyone that Dolly accosted. I worked to convince myself that my insistence to help had nothing to do with the woman being so breathtakingly beautiful it had knocked the wind right out of me.

This was the right thing to do. No ulterior motive at all. Nope. None.

OLIVIA

As soon asBen rounded the corner and was out of sight, I pulled away from Trevor and began to hobble away as fast as I could. It wasn’t going well. I made it two steps, and had to stop to regain my balance.

“What are you doing?” His tone communicated clearly that he was not impressed with my attempted getaway.

“I’m going back to the office where I’m going to wrap my ankle and ice it.”

“What about Arm Porn?”

“What about him?”

“He said he’ll be right back.”

“And by the time he does, I’ll be gone.”

“You said that you’d wait for him.”

“No.Yousaid that I’d wait for him,” I countered.

“Olivia, stop.”

I didn’t respond; I just kept hobbling as fast as I could.

“Youneedto get that looked at.” Trevor stood in front of me, blocking my path.

“Ineedto get back to the office.”

He stared at me, clearly unimpressed with my declaration.

I lifted my arm and pressed on his chest to move him out of the way. When I did, a pain shot from my wrist up my arm. I did my best not to wince, but I heard the air suck in through my clenched teeth.

Closing my eyes, I took a deep breath and told myself to suck it up and get back to the office. There was Advil and vodka there.

“Look, I know you hate hospitals. But Ben said it’s a clinic. It will be like going to the doctor.”

I wasn’t a huge fan of doctors either. But hospitals were really the worst. I’d spent three months in the hospital with my father when he was in a medically induced coma. They were the worst months of my life.
