“My mother remarried after my father died and the two sons she had with my step-father bullied me, but she refused to believe me when I complained about it.”

“It’s official.” I glance around at the women. “All of your mothers are witches.”

“Yours too,” Indigo says. I don’t deny it since she’s right.

My stomach rumbles and Indigo jumps to her feet. “Let’s get some snacks.”

As the four of us rummage the kitchen for food, a feeling of contentment steals over me. These women understand me. They understand how it feels to have a mother who doesn’t support you. To not have family you can turn to in times of need.

I’ve never had many girlfriends in the past because I’ve always found it hard to connect with people. But these women could very well become my friends.

Maybe I should stay in Winter Falls.

Chapter 13

Trust – believing your bandmate even when the naked woman is still in the room

I strum my guitar as Cash sings and weaves his magic over the crowd. They sing along and sway with the music as he reaches the end of our hit song Resurrect.

I've learned from my mistakes,

I've grown,

And I'll fight for your love,

I've always known,

You're the one I need,

The missing piece of me,

I'm determined to make you see.

I'm gonna win you back,

Prove my love is sincere,

Every moment,

I'll treasure and protect,

With you, I'll resurrect.

As soon as the last note is played, the crowd explodes. I pull out one of my in-ears to listen to the cheers and catcalls and clapping. Nothing gives me a bigger high than the crowd during a concert.

“Good night, Seattle!”

That’s my cue. I set my guitar in its rack on the stage before throwing up the devil’s horns with both hands and rushing off stage. Jett follows me. Then Fender, Dylan, and finally Cash.

Cash isn’t even off the stage before the crowd starts yelling for an encore. We played two hours and I’m soaked in sweat, but I’m pumped up and ready to give them more.

I stroll to our dressing room. Aurora glances up from her phone to nod at me. She frowns at Jett who gives her the finger as soon as she drops her gaze. Those two need to get a room already. An explosion is imminent.

I whip off my t-shirt and throw it on the ground before reaching for a new one. I down a bottle of water as I wait for the rest of the band to put on clean t-shirts.

“How many songs will you play for the encore?” Aurora asks Cash.
