They grip my wrist, guiding me to our room. While they are free to be with whomever they please, this place is ours. This entire establishment might be theirs, but this room, it’s ours.

Tenderly, they kiss my collar once we’re in the closed room. Their hands cup my jaw, holding me in place. I’ve never felt an easier pull than when I’m succumbing to their every need.

A little pinch brings me back to the present, to their fierce gaze, and desire melts as black pools in their eyes.

On their bed is a little sunflower, almost like the little gift I found after my swim the other day. Soft petals and bright beacons of light. My heart races, thinking it’s from Vex, not knowing if it’s somehow a gesture.

Vex’s teeth nip at my lip, forcing my attention to only them. The importance of their teeth and my throat eventually meeting seems inevitable. We’ve done this little dance over and over. I give them blood to sustain their life, and they give me a release that nothing anyone else could ever offer would suffice.

Their lips dance across my pulse points, a slow and seductive cadence, making sure their fangs drag slowly down my throat, enticing me further.

It’s a pinch, like they’re barely not breaking the surface, but the way their chest heaves tells me they feel this too. This draw... a pull that’s not quite explainable. It makes no sense how my entire body calls to them.

We’ve avoided it for so long.

Well, they have. The distance built between us is on their end and not my own. I’m a tidal wave, and they’re the building barely being touched away from the shore, built on too high of a surface to ever be reached.

“Please, bite me,” I beg once more, feeling my entire body vibrating with desperation. It’s barely more than a whimper, breathless and nearly subconscious as if my body knows what I’m predestined to do.

After all, they’re a predator, and I’ll always be their prey.

They tease me, treading shallow waters where we forget who we are.

They’re a Saephyn, and I’m a Cupid. Our paths should’ve never crossed.

Yet, at Vex’s, our labels never mattered.

They never bite me there, not even close to it. My wrist, my shoulder, and occasionally, my hips, but never somewhere that could force a bond. One we both know they’re not ready for.

I would do it though, in a heartbeat. They’re mine. I just know it.

We do this dance of temptation and respect, but we never quite discuss where or if it’ll ever go anywhere more. We’re only attached by admiration and trust, and if they want me to go, I’ll cry and be heartbroken, but I would respect their decision.

They don’t drink from anyone but me, and I’m not sure why. Unless it’s too intimate, but that doesn’t stop the thrill and desperation thriving beneath my skin for it.

“My little dove is greedy tonight,” they chastise, licking the pulse point at my throat. When they pull back, the soft lighting hits them.

Their eyes are rimmed with crimson. Hunger. They’re starving.

“Vex,” I gasp, pressing my palm to their cheek. They close their eyes at the touch momentarily before shaking it from their face. “You need to eat.”

“Nothing sexier than a feeding,” they grunt, rolling their eyes.

“You know it’s never bothered me,” I argue, thinking of them biting me and clenching my thighs as more heat floods my veins. “If anything, it turns me on to be at your mercy.”

They growl at me, their eyes dilating to pure pits of black. “On the bed.”

I don’t question their demand, knowing they change their mind quickly. Right now, they’re giving in to whatever usually holds them back.

Stepping backward, I hit the soft material of the bed before leaning back and scooting. Vex’s eyes don’t leave mine as they trail after me. The intense way their gaze doesn’t falter has anticipation crawling across my skin like feathers teasing each breath.

Once I hit the pillows, I stop. Crawling over me, they lean down. Their lips tease my throat, and then they nip at my ear.

“Oh, little dove. You should’ve stayed home tonight.”

“I’m not scared of you, Vex Asher,” I whisper. They fully freeze, their body almost stone. Letting out a long sigh, they kiss the curve of my jaw.

“You should be, especially tonight.”
