“Thanks, baby. Should we go make some pancakes like your unicorn dream?”
“Yes! But can they have sprinkles just like my dream? And chocolate chips? She said they were the yummiest pancakes ever, and I just have to try them! Pleaseeee?”
“Yes, baby. Let's sugar ourselves up.”
I hear a knock on my door as we sit at the kitchen bar and eat our chocolate chip pancakes with extra sprinkles.
“Mommy, is someone here?” Addy asks, her mouth practically exploding with food, bright sprinkles, and melted chocolate chips covering her face.
“I guess so. Stay here and eat. I’ll go see who it is,” I say with a smile, although inside, I’m nervous it’s her father.
Am I always going to feel this way? Like he controls my life, and I have to make sure he’s not watching me? I hate it. I hate that I don’t feel completely comfortable in my new home because there is always the thought in the back of my mind that he’ll come here and mess everything up. I’m afraid of how he’s going to respond when he realizes he’s not getting his way. Tom never lifted a finger at me; he just used his words to tear me down. I think he knew that if he ever got physical with me, I’d chop his dick off faster than he could finish, and goddamn, that’s saying something. But I am afraid of what he could do with Addy. Could he take her away from me?
Either way, no matter what temper tantrum he throws, we are divorcing, and I’m not taking the blame.
When I peek through the hole, I see it’s Trevor, his usual black baseball cap on backward, paired with a gray shirt, a flannel, and ripped jeans. Seeing him makes me all tingly, and I can’t help but remember the feeling of his lips on mine. Why does he have to be so hot?
“Good morning,” I say, as I open the door.
Trevor looks down at his watch and quirks an eyebrow at me. “Is eleven a.m. still considered morning?”
Addy and I ended up in the living room watching Bluey for an hour before we finally made our way into the kitchen to make the pancakes. It was nice getting some snuggle time with my girl, plus those damn dogs are just too funny in that show.
“In this house, we kinda just go with the flow. Morning is when we eat breakfast, and it just so happens that today we’re having breakfast at eleven in the morning since Addy doesn’t have school today,” I say with a smile. To be honest, I hadn’t realized it’d gotten so late.
“I like your style,” Trevor jokes before checking his watch. “So, I know this is super last minute, and I totally get if you ladies already have plans, but Rex and his girlfriend Sawyer were coming to meet me at the park. They’re bringing Rory over, and wanted to walk Central Park and get ice cream. Rory has been wanting to meet Addy, so she asked me to invite you both.”
It’s weird seeing Trevor nervous. He has such a big presence and is a very confident man who’s never anything but charismatic and charming. But right now, it would appear that I’m making him nervous, and deep down, I kind of like it.
Addy comes running from the kitchen, a huge smile on her face when she sees Trevor. “Mr. Trevor! Hi!” she says as she swoops past me and hugs his legs. “What are you doing? Were you coming to see me?”
The way she looks up to him makes my heart hurt. It’s filled with adoration and happiness. He always makes time for Addy. Even if he’s on the way out and we bump into him, he’ll stop and talk to Addy, and I know it means something to her. Tom barely pays attention to anyone, hell, he was probably working while Lena sucked his dick under his desk.
“I was, little one.” Trevor beams as she practically leaps up into his arms.
“He actually invited us to go get ice cream with him and Rex’s family,” I tell her.
“Yes please, mommy. I want to go. Rory and I can be friends now,” Addy says with a giggle as Trevor eyes me, waiting for my answer.
Do I want to go? I shouldn’t. Not after the last time we were together and were playing tongue hockey in a dark alley where I called him daddy. And the only thing I regret is that I didn’t call him daddy while his cock was buried deep inside me.
But of course, I’d do anything to see my little spawn happy, so I guess we’re getting ice cream.
“Can we have ten minutes? I just need to get her ready really quick,” I say, looking at Addy, who is still in her pajamas. At least I got dressed, although a pair of overalls and Converse aren’t exactly fancy.
“Of course. They’re meeting us out front in fifteen minutes. I still need to grab a jacket, so I’ll just meet you here in ten?”
“Perfect.”
Fuck, I think as I shut the door. I have ten minutes to make both my sleepy-looking child and myself presentable. I mean, I’d like to at least look hot, even if Trevor won’t actually fuck me.
“Addy, go get dressed. I’ll be there in just a minute to do your hair.”
She skips off, giggling the entire way.
Now what the hell can I do in ten minutes to make myself look fuckable without looking like I’m trying too hard?
Decisions, decisions.
