Her voice is filled with so much excitement. It’s adorable.

“Her name is Ellie. She’s coming to the game tomorrow with her friend. She, uh, asked me what she should wear to the game, and I said clothes. The guys said I was a dumbass for not having a jersey for her. Think you could help me out?”

“I’m already on it, Trev. Cassie and I were meeting up tonight anyway. We’ll go shopping and get Ellie ready to support her man.”

“I’m not her man.”

“Not yet… not yet. Text me what you think her size is. You’ll have it when you wake up. Tell Rex to wake me up when he gets home.” She laughs as she hangs up.

“What’d she say?” Max asks.

“She’s on it,” I tell them, relieved for the first time since they brought everything up. “Oh, and Rex, she wants you to wake her up when you get home.”

Rex smiles as Max fake gags. I laugh.

What’s even funnier than these two, though?

The fact that for the first time in months, I’m looking forward to a hockey game—all because she will be there, even if she’s only my friend.

*Sends pic*

Natalie

Are those jerseys? Are they for tonight?!

Yes. One for each of us. Plus passes to go back with the players after and a sweatshirt and some other stuff. It’s all super cute.

Natalie

Interesting.

What’s interesting?

Natalie

Your man is making sure you’re wearing his jersey.

He got you the same one.

Natalie

He just didn’t want to make it obvious.

Fuck. Why do I love that? Are we still meeting there in an hour
