I made it to the exit and the blissfully empty elevator. The quiet peace of my suite seemed impossible after the scene downstairs, but I was grateful for it. I took a hot shower, scrubbing any remnants of Cassius off me. All the while, I wondered what I’d done wrong. Maybe I would never know.
When I got out of the shower, I started packing my bag with my few belongings. How was I going to get home? Would they have a driver come for me, or did they expect me to call a car service on my own? It was late. I longed to go to bed, to put the shame I felt on hold for a few blessed hours. They wouldn’t come and drag me out of the house in the middle of the night, would they?
I crawled under the covers, quickly checking my phone. There was a text from Lucas. How’s it going?
Fine,I lie-texted back.I’ll call you tomorrow. Get some rest.
But tomorrow, I would have to face the truth: I’d failed my brother.
And because of how sick he was, I might’ve failed him for the last time.
CHAPTER TWO
lucrative
Faith
“Faith.Faith.Wake up,” said a quiet voice.
I opened my eyes to find Gina standing over my bed, wearing a silk robe. “Come with me.”
For a moment, I was confused. Then everything that had happened came flooding back, and shame swept over me.
I threw on some sweats and followed Gina silently down the hall to her office.
“Coffee?” she asked, her voice husky. Even with no makeup and in her pajamas, the Madam was beautiful. She looked tired, though. Dark circles bloomed beneath her eyes. Last night must’ve been a long night for most of the employees.
“Sure.” Gina quickly made us two coffees with cream, and I gratefully accepted my mug. “Thank you.”
“No problem.” The Madam sank behind her desk. “What happened last night, Faith?”
“I’m not sure.” I fidgeted in my seat. “Did Mr. Blackwood tell you he fired me?”
Gina winced. “He did. But he didn’t explain why. That’s why I wanted to talk to you.”
I nodded. “I did something wrong, but I don’t know what. We were… together… and then after, he threw my phone on the floor and fired me. That was it. No explanation.”
“You said you were together,” Gina said carefully. “Do you mean that you had sex with Mr. Blackwood?”
My cheeks heated. “We did stuff,” I admitted. “But we didn’t have sex. I mean, not technical sex. I’m still a virgin.”
She nodded, looking thoughtful. “Did you do something to displease him?”
“I must have,” I said helplessly. “But I don’t know what.”
“Can you tell me exactly what happened during your time together?”
“Um… He…” I swallowed hard.
“Faith, you’re a sex worker at a private sex club,” Gina said, not unkindly. “Just spit it out.”
I took a deep breath. “Mr. Blackwood went down on me, and I had an orgasm. Then he had me kneel on the floor. I gave him oral sex, but only for a minute. Then he pulled out and masturbated.”
Gina nodded as if she heard this type of thing all the time—which she definitely did. “Did he orgasm?”
“Yes.”
“Did he ejaculate on you?”
