My gaze flicked to the bed. When I looked back at him, he was already peeling his shirt over his head, on his way there.
Yummm.
My attention lingered on his muscular back and abdomen.
He unbuttoned his pants and pushed them down his thighs before stepping out of them, and sliding into bed.
My body warmed.
I bit my lip.
His eyes slid down my figure slowly. “You coming?”
“Yes.” I finally eased away from the door and pulled my own shirt over my head. It joined Jasper’s on the floor while I closed the gap between us. My leggings were on the ground soon enough, too, and he pulled the blankets up long enough for me to slip in with him.
My bra wasn’t comfortable, but I wasn’t sure I was ready to jump his bones again, so I was going to leave it on until I made up my mind.
He pulled me to his chest, and my entire body warmed further at the feel of his hot, bare skin.
“You’re basically my personal heater,” I mumbled against him.
“Happy to be. I work best when you’re naked, though.”
I laughed, and felt his lips brush my forehead for a kiss.
His hands settled on my back when I relaxed against him. “Your dad was friendlier than your mom. Said he’s had a few mated pairs in his operating room at different times. He asked me about the thunder, and if I intended to marry you the human way.”
Curiosity had my forehead creasing. “What did you say?”
“That I already had a ring, and was just waiting for the right moment.”
My eyes widened. “You can’t lie to him, Jas.”
“It wasn’t a lie.”
I ripped my head off my chest, my body arching slightly against his as I did. “When did you get a ring?”
“After I left you with Vi.”
“How did you know I’d want a wedding?”
“I told you, I watched you at August and Elodie’s. You kept staring at them. I couldn’t tell what you were thinking, but you definitely didn’t look upset by what you saw.”
“I was wondering what it would feel like to have what they do,” I admitted. “A companion. Someone to live my life with.”
“And?”
“And when I was talking to my mom, I realized I have that now. And I don’t want to walk away from that. From you.”
Jasper’s chest rumbled against me. “Good. I can’t let you walk away now even if you want to.”
“Because you wouldn’t be able to fly anymore.”
“Because I’d lose my mind, Sweetheart. You’re mine, whether you like it or not, and I’m not letting you go.”
“That’s kind of hot.”
“Is it?”
