By the time he’s finished and has brought me his target, I’m more than a little impressed. He’s constantly hitting head shots or heart shots with his handgun, and his knives are all embedded somewhere where they would cause serious damage if the target was a living, breathing person.
“Fucking good work, Pete. Keep it up.” I say, proudly.
Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Eric pulling a face at the praise Pete is receiving. Fucking prick. I dismiss them both before setting up targets for myself; I might as well get some practice in while I’m over here. I may be an expert, but I’m only an expert because I know I can never practice too much.
About an hour later, I hear my phone ringing, and when I look, it says unknown number. Clicking the accept call button, I raise the phone to my ear.
“Hello, Blade speaking.” I say as I answer.
“Hey Blade, it’s Sera.”
“Is everything okay?”
“Yeah, I was wondering if you were busy.”
"Nope, I’m not; why what’s up?”
“Any chance you want to come shopping with me? I need to get some essentials, and everyone is busy. I really don’t want to go alone.”
“I’ll take you. Where are you?”
“My Dads.”
“I’ll be there soon. Make sure you’re ready.”
Hanging up, I quickly clean up after myself. It doesn’t take long; doing this so often it’s like second nature to me now. Actually, I could probably sort this place out with my eyes closed.
When I’m done, I head over to Blade’s place. I hate shopping, but I know Sera needs things, and other than her family, she only really knows me. I don’t mind helping her, and I won't complain about getting to know her better. I’ve got a feeling she’s here to stay.
Chapter Six
Sera
The next morning, as we’re sitting and having breakfast, Dad informs me that he needs to go help out at Devil's Garage today. He’d promised someone named Piston a few days ago that he’d come in and help him as he'd got more work than he could handle booked in at the garage today. I don’t mind him going to help; I’d hate for him to go back on his word just because of me, and I told him just that. He looked relieved after I told him that; he clearly didn't want to let either of us down, and my stance helped ease his guilt over leaving me so soon after I arrived.
"Dad, before you leave, is there any chance you can give me Blade’s number? Other than family, he’s the only person I’ve met, and he was really nice to me.”
Dad looks at me thoughtfully, then gets a twinkle in his eye. I wonder what that is about.
“Give me your phone, and I’ll put in a few numbers that might come in handy.”
I hand him my phone, and he quickly types away before handing it back to me.
"Right, I’m going to leave you to it. If you plan on leaving The Compound, please don’t leave alone. We need to take a few precautions until we deal with Patricia and Sabbatini.”
“Of course, Dad, I promise, now go on, get out of here, and get some work done.” I say, pushing him towards the door laughing.
Once he’s out the door, I grab my phone and dial Blade's number. After a quick conversation where he agrees to come shopping with me, we hang up. I have a feeling he won’t be long, so I quickly shove my feet into my slip-on flats, grab my bag, and go and wait outside for Blade. There is no way he can say I wasn't ready and waiting this way.
He arrives looking hot as fuck riding his bike. I swear, I may drool slightly, but come on, who can blame a girl when a guy looks that hot riding his bike? He pulls up next to my SUV and pulls off his helmet before walking over to me.
“Ready to go?” He asks as he reaches me and holds out his hand, palm up.
I just raise my eyebrow at him, waiting for him to speak. I can guess what he's after, but I refuse to make it easy on him.
“Keys please.” I just laugh, pull them from my jeans pocket, and drop them in his palm.
“Come on, then.” I say running towards the passenger side of the car. I can see him smiling and shaking his head at me, and I internally smile. He has a great smile; he should really do it more often.
