“That we do. Be at Inferno’s tomorrow morning at ten.”
“I’ll be there. See you soon, Wrath.”
I don’t even bother to reply; I just slam my office phone back down.
Out of every person I’ve met since I’ve been President, I can say without a doubt that Sabbatini is the one I hate the most. He’s the embodiment of a slimy mobster. I’ve met many different crime bosses over the years, and none have given me the feeling of distaste the way he did. He honestly believed he could force my hand because I was relatively new to being President when we first met. He soon fucking learned that wasn’t the case when he was one of only a handful that left the fateful meeting still breathing.
Sitting behind my desk, I activate my computer and pull up the direct text window to Tech. It’s so much easier than having to walk all the way to his cave. Especially when what I need are files, and he can just send them straight through to me. I don’t waste time typing a message asking for everything he’s collected on Sabbatini and his empire. I need as much information as possible if I’m going to formulate a plan that will have him backing off. I’m not stupid enough to believe he’ll just back off because I tell him too. He’s far too fucking cocky for that.
I’m really hoping that tomorrow’s meeting doesn’t end in a bloodbath like last time. I don’t particularly want to end up at war with Sabbatini, but if it comes down to it, I will. I’ll do anything to protect my sister from that monster.
As soon as the files come through, I send another message to Tech, asking him to arrange for all the Officers, Wreck, and Sera to be in my office in two hours. That should give me enough time to work through all this information.
Starting to read what Tech’s sent me, I realize Sabbatini is just as much a sleazeball as I remember; he’s still trafficking people, running drugs, and, oh, look, he’s started a prostitution ring. I should have done something about him years ago, but I didn’t feel it was the right time. When we had our confrontation, I didn’t have the resources and allies I’d need to end Sabbatini. That’s not the case now, though. Now I have allies all over the country, allies who, with one phone call, will help me end Sabbatini’s empire. Hell, even some of my allies are other mob bosses. Mob bosses with more morals than Sabbatini, but mob bosses all the same. I know for a fact that any of them would be happy to help end Sabbatini. He’s disliked even in his own circle.
He needs to heed my warning tomorrow, or everything he's built will crumble around him. And I'll stand there and watch with a smile on my face. I have no issue with ruining him. My family is the most important thing to me, and that’s not something that’s ever been hidden. It’s a known fact to everyone. So why he even believes I’d willingly hand him my sister, I don’t know. He’ll learn the error of his way, that’s for sure.
His face-to-face with Blade will also be one hell of a show. Blade was one of the members with me last time we dealt with him, and Sabbatini got to see firsthand just how lethal my weapon expert really is.
Chapter Thirty-Three
Sera
Waking up tangled with the man I love more than life itself is the best feeling in the world. I’m looking forward to experiencing this every day for the rest of our lives, but I’m never going to take it for granted. I’m determined to show him every day for the rest of our lives, just how much I love that he took this chance with me.
However, there is something I need to talk to Blade about. That conversation I overheard between Wrath and Flame the day I was there to support Wreck. It’s been playing on my mind since I heard it. Now is the first chance I've had to talk to Blade about my idea. I need his honest opinion about what I’m thinking, because it’s going to affect him just as much as me.
“Blade?”
“Yes Angel.”
“I need to talk to you about something.” I say nervously.
“Whatever it is, you don’t need to sound so nervous.” God, I love how much he immediately tries to reassure me, even without knowing what I need to talk to him about.
“I kinda do. I overheard something between Wrath and Flame, and even though I know I shouldn’t really say anything to you, I need to discuss an idea I had with you.”
“Go on, Angel.” He says encouragingly.
“They want another kid, and from what I heard, they’re struggling to not only find a surrogate but an egg donor too.” I take a breath before continuing, “I want to offer both to them. If they use my egg, then the child will be the closest they can ever get to being biologically both theirs, and if I carry the baby, they get to experience everything. I want to help them; I hate that they can't easily expand their family.”
I look up at Blade after I finish speaking, worried about what his reaction will be. By the looks of it, I have nothing to worry about. His eyes are filled with nothing but pride and awe.
“Angel, you’re one in a million. Talk to them; I think what you’re offering is the most selfless and amazing thing you could do for them. You have my full support. We're not ready for kids yet, but they want more. Do what you feel you need to do, Angel. I’ll be with you every step of the way.”
Moving over him, I straddle his waist and kiss the hell out of him. I’m so glad he doesn’t have an issue with my plan; most men would. But not mine. Mine is far too amazing for that. I'll never take him for granted, that's for sure. What I’m offering to do for Wrath and Flame isn’t some small thing; it’s life-changing for everyone involved. I’m so happy Blade understands why I want to do this and supports me. I really hope Wrath and Flame agree.
Pulling back from the kiss, I roll off Blade before we end up going for round two. Now that I've spoken to Blade, I want to talk to Wrath and Flame. If they accept my offer, I know it won't be a quick and easy process. I want to get the ball rolling as soon as possible. They’ve waited long enough to grow their family.
I don’t say anything to Blade as I start pulling my clothes on as fast as I can. I can see him smiling at me lovingly as he gets up and starts getting dressed too. Grabbing my phone, I check to see if I’ve missed any messages while I’ve been wrapped up in Blade, and I see I have. Tech has messaged about a meeting that still isn’t for another hour, but I’m sure Wrath won’t mind me coming to see him a little early. Especially with what I want to talk to him about.
When I look over at Blade, I see he’s now fully dressed and waiting for me. Sliding my phone into my pocket, I hold my hand out for Blade. He comes and grabs it, and we leave, heading to speak to my brother and hopefully change his life.
It doesn’t take us long to get to Wrath’s office, and now that we’re here, I’m starting to feel a little nervous. I hope he’s not mad that I overheard something private between him and Flame. Hopefully, what I have to offer makes overhearing it worthwhile.
“Calm down. Everything will be fine.” Blade whispers as he knocks on the door. God, I hope he’s right. I really don’t want an issue with my brother so early in our relationship.
“Come in!” Wrath shouts from inside.
