“So was everything better once you went into foster care? Please tell me nothing else happened to you.”
“Oh yeah, foster care was like fucking heaven for me. The lady I was placed with was amazing. She was what I always wished my mom would have been like; she really cared about me and got me the help I needed to process what had happened to me. She is actually the one who introduced me to Blaze and the MC. She grew up with Blaze, and they were still friends, and she thought I could use their influence in my life to show me not all men were like my father. She was right; they changed my life.”
“Is she still in your life?”
“Oh yeah, Mama June is still around. She's away on a cruise at the moment. I'm sure you'll meet her at some point; she'll just show up when you least expect it.”
“Mama June? I take it her name is June, then?”
"Yeah, her name is June, and I think everyone but the older members calls her Mama June, including both your brothers. She was like a Mom to them growing up, and they both love her.”
“I can't wait to meet her. I bet she has the best stories and won't sugarcoat anything.”
“She's going to love you. Just wait.”
She sounds like an amazing woman, and I can’t wait to meet her. Anyone who can selflessly do what she did for a young Blade is someone I want to know. I also feel a hell of a lot closer to Blade since we both opened up about our experiences. He understands me on a level I didn’t think was possible.
I can't help but want more than just friendship with him. He's got demons just like me, but they've made him stronger and into a man I'd love to call mine. I'm not going to rush him, though; he's been through hell because of Jasmine, but one thing I'm sure of is that I will have my chance. I'm a patient woman.
Chapter Eleven
Blade
Leaving Sera’s harder than I ever could have imagined it’d be after talking about our pasts. I’ve never had someone go through something on a similar horror scale as I have until today. Jasmine went through something terrible, but she was an adult. Sera and I were just kids; what happened to us shaped us into the people we are today. We both certainly had good-for-nothing parents when we were growing up. I fucking hate that she went through what she did because of her mother. Patricia certainly belongs in a category with my own parents. That’s for sure.
God help us all when she finally opens up to her family about her past, because I have no doubts they will want to do something about the people who took advantage of her at a young age, and God help Patricia. I know for a fact she won’t be surviving once they all know what she’s done to Sera. I also know it won’t be any of them that end her. It’s going to be Mama June. Mama has never hid the fact that she hates Patricia and has always hoped she’d get her hands on her eventually. She’s definitely going to get that wish.
Personally, I want to hunt down every man who hurt Sera and take my blades to them, but I know I can’t. Not yet. But I fucking will be. That’s a goddamn promise. Those people don’t know it yet, but their time on this earth is limited. I may have only just met her, but Sera’s special. The people who took advantage of her don’t deserve to carry on breathing.
Before I left her, I did ask Sera’s permission to tell Tech. Only for the pure reason that if there are any images of her still out there, he can find them and destroy them. Our resident computer guru has skills that are unmatched, and I have no doubts he’ll be able to erase any trace of those images. I’ve never seen someone look so relieved when she realized what I was offering. She agreed; she doesn’t want those pictures still out there.
So I’m currently on my way to see Tech. Tech isn’t like most members; he’s on the smaller side both in height and build, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have skills. He trained with me and Flame like everyone else, and he proved himself. It’s funny when people underestimate him because looks are certainly deceiving where our computer guru is concerned.
Everyone is steering clear of me as I make my way through The Clubhouse, and I don’t blame them. I know I look murderous. That’s because I am. I know I need to calm down, though. I can’t tell anyone other than Tech about this. It has to be Sera’s choice who finds out. I’d never do to her what Jasmine did to me.
With that thought in mind, I take some deep breaths as I carry on walking. Turning my mind to Sera herself and not what she told me. I want her. I can’t deny it anymore. She’s everything I could have ever dreamed of. She's smart, beautiful, and a survivor. Also, I'm pretty sure she’s just as lethal as I am. She hides it well, but she has a thirst for blood. I could see it when I told her about my parents; if she could've, I have no doubts she would have inflicted some serious fucking damage to them. Maybe even killed them. Luckily for them, they're still locked up. I have no idea what she’ll do if she ever comes face-to-face with them. I’m certain it won’t be pretty, though.
Entering Tech’s cave, I’m relieved to find him alone. I didn’t really want to be kicking someone out and then trying to answer questions about why later. No, thank you; I’ll take the simple road on this one.
“Hey man.” Tech says, spinning on his chair to face me while pushing his almost white hair back from his face. As always, it’s an awkward length, but he won’t cut it, even though it constantly falls over his glasses.
“Hey. I need to talk to you about something, and under no circumstances can you mention any of this conversation to anyone.”
“Am I going to end up in shit for this?” He asks warily.
“No. You’ll understand why in a minute.” I say seriously.
Tech must see something in my expression, because the next thing I know, he’s spinning back around and clicking buttons on his keyboard. Then I hear it: the lock he can control so no one, not even Wrath, can enter his cave.
“You can talk freely now.” Tech says, spinning back to look at me. His blue eyes are hard and serious.
And talk, I do. Explaining to him everything Sera told me and what I was hoping he could do. Tech doesn’t even flinch about the request; actually, he looks fucking determined.
“I’ll do everything I can. Those photos will no longer exist once I’m finished. I’m also going to hack Patricia’s system and try to get as much information on her clients as possible. I know you’re going to want it.”
“Thank you, Tech. You’re invaluable.” I mean that, I have no idea what we’d do sometimes without Tech and his skills. He’s on a whole other level, and we’re fucking lucky to have him. It’s hard to remember the timid teenager he used to be when he first arrived. Now he’s confident. He knows he has skills and that we care about him.
“I know.” He says, smirking.
