“Obviously it is. You’re tense as fuck and look like you’re ready for a fight. So fucking spit it out.” Wrath says, and we all know Shadow no longer has a choice but to tell us. He’s not going to go against his President’s orders. Even if the President in question is his twin brother.

“Fuck.” He mutters before straightening up and looking directly at Wrath as he speaks. “I’m just worried about the staff who’ll be working at Inferno’s during our meeting.”

There’s truth behind his words; I’ll give him that, but it’s not everything. Not many people would notice the little signs in Shadow’s body that give him away, but I’m not just fucking anybody, and I’m pretty fucking sure I know who he’s worried about, and if I’m right, he’s got some fucking explaining to do.

“No, that's not the whole truth. It’s not all the staff you’re worried about. It’s fucking one in particular. Isn’t it?”

Shadow looks like a deer in headlights at my words, and I know I’ve hit the fucking nail on the head. I’m more than a little pissed with him, especially after how he went off at me about keeping secrets when he’s clearly been keeping a pretty big one himself.

“Who the fuck is he talking about, Shadow?” Wrath asks, his voice filled with annoyance.

Shadow just keeps swallowing hard but doesn’t speak. Fuck this; if he isn’t going to open his mouth, then I will. It’s time for everything to be brought out into the open.

“Megan. There’s something going on between him and Megan. I thought I was reading into things, but I wasn’t. His reaction right now tells me everything.”

As soon as the words leave my mouth, Shadow confirms it’s all true by looking guilty as fuck. Wreck is looking at his best friend, eyes filled with betrayal. Wrath doesn’t look much different either. I’m not sure Shadow has ever lied or hidden anything from either one of them before. Fucking hell, Shadow hates secrets more than anyone I’ve ever met, and he’s been keeping a massive one from everyone. Talk about fucked up.

“You have some fucking explaining to do, brother.” Wrath starts, sounding as betrayed as he looks. “Just for your peace of mind, all the staff will be safe and fine. So you don’t need to worry.”

Shadow should look relieved at Wrath’s words, but he doesn’t. I'm pretty sure that’s because he knows shit is going to hit the fan between himself and Wrath. Not to mention what’s going to happen between him and Wreck. Wreck isn't going to go easy on Shadow, that much I know from the hard look in his eyes.

Shadow’s secret relationship with Megan also answers the question I’ve had about what changed over the last year in regards to her attitude at Inferno’s. She fucking thought that being in a secret relationship with Shadow made her goddamn untouchable. Well, that’s not the fucking case, and next time she decides to fucking act like she has, she’s in for a motherfucking shock. Every person in this room, barring Shadow, will make sure of that.

The conversation turns back to the meeting, and it’s decided that Sera will go to work with Wreck at Devil’s Ink, with Ink and Rock going as an added precaution. The rest of us will be attending the meeting.

As much as I want to be with Sera and make sure she’s safe when Sabbatini is in town, I know I need to be at the meeting. I’ve got to trust that my brothers will do everything to keep her safe.

Chapter Thirty-Five

Eagle

As soon as the meeting ends, we all watch as Wreck storms out of Wrath’s office, clearly pissed off about what we just learned about Shadow. I don’t blame him. It’s a known fact how close they both are, and they don’t keep anything from each other. Shadow has broken Wreck’s trust and has most definitely got some fucking groveling to do where his best friend is concerned.

We all watch as, moments after Wrecks exits, Shadow follows on his heels. Not saying a word to any of us. As soon as he’s out of the door, Piston moves and closes the door once more. Shadow and Wreck might have left, but after what’s just been relieved, the rest of us certainly need to talk.

“So that little revelation explains Megan’s sudden change in attitude.” Blade says, breaking the silence.

I can’t help but let out a humorless laugh. Out of everyone in this room, I’m pretty sure it’s myself and Blade who have had the pleasure of dealing with her the most. He’s not wrong when he says she’s had a change of attitude.

“What do you mean?” Piston asks, and it doesn’t surprise me. He spends most of his time working at Devil’s Garage, so I’m pretty sure he hasn’t experienced what we have as far as she’s concerned.

“After the incident where Craig tried to attack her, Megan suddenly changed. She went from quiet and hardworking, to overly bitchy and nasty, no matter who she was talking to. It didn’t matter if it was a member of management or a normal staff member. She also started to become lazy, allowing all the other staff to pick up her slack.” I start to explain.

“You’re saying that he’s been hiding this relationship that long?” Wrath asks, and he doesn’t look happy at all.

“It makes sense. Why else would she suddenly become too big for her boots at work?” Blade chimes into the conversation.

“This is fucking messed up.” Ink mutters. “Did you see Wreck’s face? He looked utterly betrayed.”

We all just hum in agreement. I don’t think any of us missed that. Shadow certainly has his work cut out in mending this relationship with Wreck.

“So what are we going to do about Megan? With everything else that we’ve been dealing with recently, we’ve let her behavior slide.” Blade asks.

“I could always deal with her.” Sera pipes up, making us all laugh. She really is Blade’s perfect match. I’ve never met a woman like her; he’s one lucky fucker to have someone as amazing as she is as his Ol’ Lady.

“As much fun as that would be, we can’t really have you beating the shit out of our employees, Angel.” Blade says even with an evil glint in his eye.

“I think we should see what happens tomorrow after the meeting. I arranged it so we should finish just as the staff start to arrive. Let’s see what she does with us all being there.”
