I showed her the guest bedroom downstairs, then went to the other end of the house and up a flight of stairs.
“There are four rooms on this side of the hall for the kids,” I said.
She wrinkled her brow and then laughed, and I kept going before she could argue.
“I was thinking this would be perfect for the nursery once we want the baby to have her own room. I’ll leave decorations to your discretion.”
Then, I went across the hall. “And here is our room,” I said.
The bedroom was an exact replica of the room at Dominic’s house, something I knew wasn’t lost on her.
“Well,” I said when she was quiet. “What do you think?”
I was surprisingly nervous, but when Alex pulled me into her arms and hugged me, I laughed and breathed a sigh of relief.
“I love it, Noah,” she said.
Then she pulled back, looking up at me with intense eyes. “But not nearly as much as I love you.
“I love you too, Alex,” I said.
Then, I kissed her.
