“I don’t know. I told her financially I would take care of shit, but I can’t be a dad.”
“Why not?”
“I don’t want to be. I’ve never wanted kids, man. I just look at us and all the fucked up shit we had to go through, and I can’t see being someone’s dad.”
“You know you’re not like that, right?” he nods.
“I know, but that doesn’t change the facts.”
“I’m sorry, Levi. I don’t know what to say,” Rylan adds. I don’t either, so I don’t say shit.
I sit back in my seat and take in two of my best friends and wonder how the fuck our lives are going to turn out.
Chapter 20
Angel
The closer we get, the more I begin to shake. I think this is a bad idea. I don’t think coming back was the smartest move. I know Silas wasn’t going to let this go, and neither was Rylan. Levi is the only one who didn’t want to come, but he did for us.
“Have you really thought about this?” I ask, looking between the two of them. Silas smirks at me and Ry just rolls his eyes.
“Of course we have. You think we’re that unhinged?” I raise my eyebrow at Silas. “Okay, we are that unhinged, but we’re not stupid, Angel.”
“And the plan is what?” Tamsyn asks this time.
“The plan is you two stay at the hotel while we handle shit, and then we can all go home alive,” Rylan tells her.
“I’m not so sure I like the idea of being left in a hotel,” Tamsyn adds, crossing her arms over her chest.
“Don’t make me chain you to the bed, Syn. I’ll do it,” Rylan warns her. I see the look in his eyes. He isn’t playing with her, and Silas would do the same to me.
“So basically, we’re supposed to sit around and do nothing while we wait to hear back from you three?” I ask now.
“No. You can swim or go to the spa,” Silas offers.
“Yeah, because we’re going to be able to relax while we worry about you guys,” I huff out a breath. Silas grins and pulls me closer to him, holding me to his side.
“We’re going to be fine. Hunter and Hoax are going to help us out, and so are the other Gods if it comes down to it.”
“Doesn’t make me feel any better,” I mumble. None of us speak for the rest of the ride to the hotel and when we get there, they follow us up to our room. The guys offload the bags before going into the living room of the suite and sit down to talk. I hear someone at the door. I’m on edge about all of this, and I don’t trust the rest of the Kings.
When Tamsyn and I walk into the living room, we see Hunter and Hoax coming in. They say hi, and we wave at them before going and sitting with the guys. If we can’t be there to help, at least we can hear the damn plan.
“So? What are we looking at?” Silas asks, looking between the two of them while running his finger up and down my thigh. I squirm in my seat, and he knows what he’s doing. Distracting me.
“Ideally, we’d get them all back to Chaos and handle it there. Realistically, that’s not going to happen,” Hoax tells them.
“Anyone going to be away from the group today? Can we lure them to Chaos?” Rylan asks this time. Hunter sighs and sits back in his seat looking between the three of them.
“Are you sure you want to do this? We have no problems taking them down for you,” Hunter tells them.
“No. This is on us,” Silas tells him.
“It’s your dad, man. And yours too, Ry. That’s not an easy kill. I would know.” What? Did Hunter kill his dad? I’ve never heard about that.
“I get it, Hunter, and trust me, we appreciate the offer, but for this shit to be over? For it to finally end? We need to be the ones doing it,” Rylan tells him. Hunter nods his head as if he gets it, and maybe he does. We’ve talked all the way from Florida to here about everything and anything related to the Kings. Silas asked Rylan about taking it over. What were his thoughts on it and Rylan didn’t say anything. A part of me that now knows what the Kings do as far as trafficking goes wants them to take it over. For them to keep the good going, clearing out the bad but there’s another part of me that isn’t sure about it. It scares me.
“Have you thought about staying?” Hoax asks now. Rylan and Tamsyn share a look before they look over at us.
