“They’re personal, Silas. Not all of them are about that,” she tells me.

“Then I’ll skip over those parts.”

“I mean it. Just give them back. Please.”

“Oh, how I love it when you say please, baby. You feel that?” I ask her, pressing her down on my hardening cock.

“Silas, I’m serious.”

“So am I. I’m not done with them yet.”

“And I don’t want you reading all of them,” she snaps at me. Now I wonder what’s in there that she’s so worried about me reading. Is it another man? It doesn’t matter; now, I’m not even going to think about giving them back.

“Don’t worry, Angel. Your secrets are safe with me,” I whisper in her ear. I see the way her body trembles, and I love every second of it. If I didn’t have to deal with the fucking mayor bullshit, I would take her into the bathroom and remind her who the fuck she belongs to.

“I’ll call it all off, Silas.”

“Call what off?”

“This! All of this!” She snaps when I finally let her pull away and climb out of my lap. She crosses her arms over her chest, being as defiant as she can be as I look at her, taking her in.

“You want to end this?” I ask her, keeping my tone calm.

“If you don’t give them back, yes.” Now, I shove to my feet slowly and stand in front of her. She looks up at me, keeping her stone mask in place.

“I’m not giving them back. And good luck getting rid of me, Angel. I did kill for you,” I remind her. Her mouth parts, but words don’t form. I smirk and start to walk away from her when she grabs my arm to stop me.

“I mean it, Silas. I don’t want you to read them,” she tells me.

“What’s the matter, little Angel? Are you afraid I’ll go after your past lovers?” She shakes her head. What the fuck is in those journals I haven’t found yet?

“They’re private. They’re my thoughts and feelings, and I don’t want you to see that,” she says, keeping her voice down. Doesn’t matter what she wants. I’m going to find out what the fuck is going on in that head of hers. I lean closer to her face and smile at her.

“You’re mine, Angel. You belong to me and all my darkness now. Whatever is in those journals means nothing. Whatever you did in the past is done. The only thing you should be writing about now is me.”

“Silas, I mean it. Please let me have them back.”

“I’m not going to do that now that you’ve piqued my interest, baby.”

“What? What do you mean?”

“I mean, they are mine now. They belong to me the same as you do. What’s yours is mine, and what’s mine is yours.”

“Then give me your phone,” she huffs as if that’s a challenge. I slide my hand into my pocket and pull my phone out, pressing it into her hand. Then I tilt my head and watch her, waiting for her to make a move. She can check my phone all she wants. There isn’t shit on there.

When she doesn’t make a move to look through my phone, I take it back and slide it back into my pocket. She knows she’s lost right now. I won.

“Be a good girl until I come back,” I tell her, pressing my lips to hers. She doesn’t pull away but she also doesn’t kiss me back. That’s fine, too.

I walk away, leaving her standing there with anger in her eyes. I’m out the door and headed to my car, ready to get some more information.

I climb in and drive across town, pulling into the parking place and sighing. I know that I agreed to this shit, but it’s proving harder than I thought it would be.

I climb out and head inside Chaos to find Hunter. I find Hoax instead.

“Hey,”’ I say when I walk in and look around.

“Silas. Been a long time since I’ve seen you.” Hoax offers me a smile and his hand.
