Reese made a happy noise, grasping at Matty’s face.
Eliza shot him a soft smile, then glanced at Antoni. “I get the impression that both of you probably had big days. Why don’t you take a few minutes to talk about it while I get the kids cleaned up? Enzo, can you wrangle Reese for a few? I need to hose River off. I think she’s wearing as much paste as she used on her project.”
River giggled again. “Yay, paste!”
“Sure,” Enzo said with a smile. “Maybe Reese can help me figure out what this data means. I can’t make any sense of it.”
This time, Eli giggled.
With a sigh, Matty deposited Reese in Enzo’s arms, then turned to Antoni. “Well, I won’t complain about a few minutes alone with my husband. What do you say?”
“I’m all yours,” Antoni said without really thinking about it but the warmth that lit up Matty’s eyes made him glad he’d said it.
Neither of them spoke as they walked to the bedroom and it wasn’t until they were both inside that Antoni turned to look at Matty, feeling awkward now that they were alone outside of the strange honeymoon bubble they’d been in all weekend.
But Matty reached for him, pressing their lips together.
Antoni melted into it and Matty sighed against Antoni’s mouth, pulling their bodies tightly together as they exchanged desperate kisses.
Heat sparked between them and Antoni slid a hand under Matty’s hoodie, teasing his tongue between Matty’s lips.
Matty shuddered, pinning Antoni against the dresser. Something rattled and Matty pulled back with a frown but Antoni made an annoyed little grumbly noise at the interruption.
“Where are you going?” he complained, pulling Matty close again. “This was just getting good.”
Matty laughed against his mouth and closed his eyes, kissing him again, the soft abrasion of his beard making Antoni shiver with pleasure. When Antoni licked between Matty’s lips again, Matty released a desperate low groan.
“Yeah?” Antoni asked but he dove in again before Matty could speak.
Matty seemed to have no complaints, mumbling a, “mmm,” when Antoni got a grip on his ass. For a few minutes, they made out, touching each other like it had been weeks since they’d seen each other, not hours.
Road trips were going to be rough.
Antoni only stopped when he felt Matty’s cock, hard against his hip, and he heard muffled laughter from one of the kids in the hall.
“Shit.” Antoni pulled away, breathing hard. “God, sorry. I didn’t mean to start anything we can’t finish right now. I …”
I missed you, Antoni thought but that was silly. He was being ridiculous and horny after being without sex for so long, that was all.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Matty said, brushing his thumb across Antoni’s lower lip. “I don’t mind. And there’s always later … we’ll have to be quiet but there are some advantages to sharing a bedroom now, yeah?”
“Yeah,” Antoni said, shivering at the thought. “True. Later sounds good. So, tell me about your day? What happened? You seem …”
Upset wasn’t really the right word. Just down. And Matty wasn’t the type of guy who got down that way.
Or … maybe he did? What did Antoni know? They hadn’t known each other that long when it came right down to it.
“I, uh …” Matty stepped back, rubbing the back of his neck. “So, how did people react at school when they found out about the wedding?”
“Well,” Antoni said with a confused laugh, a little surprised by the change of subject. “I got a lot of surprised-sounding congratulations. I also got several people hinting they’d like tickets, which was weird as hell. I had no idea how to respond to that. Mostly, people seemed really shocked by the whole thing though.”
“Mmm, yeah, people do that a lot with tickets,” Matty said. “They act like players get crazy amounts of them for free and we definitely don’t. We get two free tickets to home games and have to pay for the ones on the road. Which, it’s fine. Obviously, I can afford it and I’m more than happy to do that for you and the kids and your parents and stuff if you want to go, but …”
“No, God, don’t worry. I’m not asking you to do that for random people I work with,” Antoni assured him. “But yeah, other than that the news was fine, I guess? Lots of curious people who kept asking for a lot of details I didn’t want to give out, but that was about it. What happened with you?”
Matty rubbed the back of his neck again. “Well, unfortunately, I kinda got chewed out by our VP of PR and Communications, Kate Foster. And Gilly, our new coach.”
Antoni winced. “Shit, I’m sorry. The last thing I meant was to cause problems for you.”
