“Ugh, I don’t know.” Felix ran a hand through his hair, catching a little smile on Jonah’s face.

He was probably laughing at how unruly the curls were now.

“Maybe we’ll see what Dustin says about that too,” Jonah suggested.

“Sounds good.”

Jonah still hadn’t taken his hand away and Felix wondered what it would feel like if he slid it a little higher and leaned in, pressing their mouths together …

“What about”—Felix’s breath caught in his throat—”uh …”

“What?” Jonah asked when the silence stretched on and grew awkward. He reached up, scratching his neck.

Felix blinked, his clarity returning now that his brain was no longer short-circuiting. “I don’t know what I was going to say.”

“Maybe you need to get some sleep.”

“Maybe I do.”

But neither of them moved.

“You staying in here?” Felix asked, half-hopeful he would, half-uncertain how he’d feel about it now.

“Uh, maybe not tonight. I know at some point we’ll need to, just to make sure this looks legit. Grandma’s not at all naive. She’s going to assume if we’re engaged, we’re definitely having sex.”

“True,” Felix managed. Shit. This was feeling very real, very fast.

“Not that we’re going to, obviously,” Jonah said with a chuckle as he slid off the bed and walked toward the door.

“No?” Felix smirked, knowing his response would rile Jonah up and make him wonder if he meant it or not.

Surprise flickered across Jonah’s face. “I mean, obviously not.”

“Okay.” Felix stretched out on the bed, pillowing his head on his hands, feeling Jonah’s gaze on his body before he reached for the door handle. “Whatever you think is best.”

By morning, Jonah was convinced he’d imagined Felix being flirtatious last night.

And if he had been, it was only because he was getting into the role they’d be playing as an engaged couple.

Felix seemed totally normal as they moved seamlessly around Grandma Ji-min’s kitchen, throwing together veggie omelets, turkey sausage, and yogurt with fruit.

Felix’s hand on Jonah’s hip to move him out of the way so Felix could grab a knife was totally normal. And the brush of Felix’s shoulder as they worked side-by-side wasn’t anything unusual either.

So why did it give Jonah a shivery sensation and leave him breathless with anticipation?

When the toast popped, they carried the food out to the deck where Grandma waited.

“You made fresh-squeezed orange juice. Why are we having a special breakfast?” she demanded, her expression suspicious. “And why wouldn’t you let me help?”

“We didn’t let you help because you need to be taking it easy,” Felix said, eyes twinkling as he slid into his usual seat across the table from Jonah. “And we’re going to be gone for the playoffs so this is our last chance to do this for a while.”

They flew out to Montreal tomorrow for their first two games against the Lynx.

Felix looked over at Jonah. “Besides, we have some good news we want to share. C’mon, tell her, Jo.”

“We, uh, have something we want to tell you,” Jonah said. “Something we want to celebrate.”

He took a deep breath but no words came. He shot a panicked look at Felix, who shifted in his seat. Grandma Ji-min looked back and forth between them, eyes narrowed.
