Felix shrugged. “I guess?”
“He’s cute. I think Jonah should ask him out.”
“What if he’s straight?” Felix protested.
“Then he shouldn’t be looking at Jonah that way. C’mon, he’s cute, eh?”
Tyson was alright, Felix supposed.
He looked fit and active—something Jonah liked—and he had blond hair and a good profile. He seemed like a nice enough guy—he’d taken Jonah’s correction about Grandma Ji-min’s name well at least—but beyond that Felix didn’t know what to think.
“Jonah’s not going to ask out your nurse,” Felix protested. “There’s like a conflict of interest or something, right?”
“Pfftt. I’m the patient, Jonah’s not. It’s fine.”
Felix shrugged. “I don’t know. I think he’s a little short for Jonah’s taste. He can do better.”
“Well, if you know some guy who can do better, tell him he should step up and ask Jonah out!”
Felix chuckled. He couldn’t think of anyone waiting in the wings but it came as no surprise that even in the hospital, Grandma Ji-min was trying to find the perfect man for her grandson.
“Jo-nah!” Grandma Ji-min whispered urgently when Tyson left the room. “Come here.”
Concerned, Jonah strode toward the bed where Felix and Grandma had been muttering under their breaths about something.
“What is it? Do you need something? Tyson said the doctor was running a few minutes behind but he’d be in shortly.”
She shook her head. “He’s cute, right?”
Jonah stared blankly at her. “Who? Felix?”
“Tyson. My nurse. You should ask him out!”
“Grandma!” Jonah protested. Oh lord, was she really trying to set him up from a hospital bed? He shouldn’t be surprised. It was totally the kind of thing she’d do, but he hadn’t seen that coming.
“What? It’s true.”
“I’m a little more worried about your health than getting a date right now,” Jonah protested.
“Why? He’s cute!”
“I didn’t notice!”
“Well, you should have.”
“How do we even know he’s gay?” Jonah protested.
She gave him an impish smile. “I saw him checking out your butt. He’s gay. Or maybe bi or pan. But he likes your butt, so that’s what’s important.”
Jonah scoffed. “Okay, well, it doesn’t matter what he is. All I care about right now is your health. What did the doctor say earlier when you spoke to him?”
She made a vague waving notion. “He said something about my heart but I don’t remember the name for it. He used a lot of words I don’t know.”
“Your heart!” Jonah yelped. “That’s way more serious than I realized. What the hell? Why didn’t you say that from the beginning?”
“I’m fine. You worry too much.”
“I do not!” Jonah protested. “Oh, my God, Felix. What in the hell are we going to do with her?”
