“Fuck, Laken,” Jed sighs. “You’re…just fuck.”

“He’s a dipshit,” Kade says, wiping me down and handing me a pair of pajama pants. “He meant you’re fucking amazing.” He presses a kiss to my lips, still grinning. He pulls a hoodie over my head. “Go pee.”

We pretty much fall into bed, no conversation about sharing it between the three of us. Jed’s hands rub my sore wrists, and Kade plays with my hair. Before I can even think about commenting on any of that, my eyes are closing.

Chapter 31

My pencil skims over the page, shading the darkest parts of the design, while my mind dips into the memory gutter of last night. Like, holy fuck, that was hot. Laken, tied up and bound, giving her body and control to us because she trusts us. The way she handled everything and said no when she knew she wasn’t ready. Because of that ‘no,’ I now have so much more trust in her restraint. She’s not giving in just because she thinks we want it. She’s doing this because she wants it, and she isn’t going to be bullied by our needs, giving us more than she’s ready for.

I thought it’d be a lot weirder to be so close to Jed, but when we were in the moment, he just became another main character in the plot my mind was building. I have an uncanny ability to keep him there and block out the parts I don’t want to see, and all in all, it was…fuck, the hottest thing ever. We can top it.

I vaguely heard Mom wake Laken this morning to go to the Fjords with Gar, so obviously, she saw all three of us in bed together. She knows. She’s not dumb. She’s figured out that we’re both fucking Laken, but I have no idea if she realizes that it’s more than sex, too. The three of us haven’t really talked about making it common knowledge with the family. I mean, those assholes aren’t dumb either, so they know something is up, but we haven’t had that big confession yet. Christmas morning was the closest, and that was basically Dad saying we were in love with the same girl, and to be honest, that’s not really anything new. They all knew that already. But I find myself wanting everyone to know because…because she’s mine, too. She’s not just Jed’s anymore, and I don’t want to be the side piece.

But now that my worry about Dom is over, and Liam is doing good, I’m freaking out about Hardin. He’s been gone with Freya since last night, and whatever the hell is going on, I’m hoping it isn’t bad news. The Dares have had enough secrets lately with Dom hiding Liam and now Laken and Jed hiding me. Hardin needs to confess, if for no other reason than to have his family at his back if he needs us.

“Hi. We’re checking in.”

I drop my pencil. Fucking forgot I was at the front desk. “Sorry. Hi.” I push my sketchpad aside. “Got distracted there.” I smile as an apology. They are a family of four; two parents and two daughters about my age or a little younger. Brunettes with big brown eyes, and the old me would have already been thinking about a way to get them both together.

The mother laughs and peeks at my sketchbook. “No worries. It’s for Clements.”

I find their reservation on the computer and start making room keys. Two sets of brown eyes watch everything I do, and instead of working out a way to hook up with them, I’m trying to find a way to get out from under their attention.

“Okay, here are your keys.” I slide them across the desk. “Room is on the third floor. There are local guides and brochures over there, and if you have any questions or want to book something, we can help with that. Do you need any help getting up to the room?”

“We’ll manage. Thank you.” The father says, taking the keys. “Have you heard anything about this storm?”

Yeah, it’s been all over the news lately. Big winter storm blowing in has all the guests from out of state nervous. “It’s Alaska. The weather changes every five fucking minutes.” Goddammit swears. “Sorry. Don’t worry, though. We know how to handle the snow.”

“This is our first time seeing snow,” one of the daughters says.

How in the actual fuck do people live without snow? “Where are you coming from?”

“Kenya. We teach there.” The mom smiles. “First family vacation back to the states in years, and we wanted a complete change in weather.”

“Well, welcome to Seward where the weather is shit, but the mountains make up for it.” I charm ‘em with another smile, but don’t let it linger on the daughters who are eye-fucking me like I’m a piece of meat. Jesus, did I look at chicks like that? Creepy.

“Happy New Year!” the mom says and then they’re on their way.

The daughters look back a few times, and even though I’m not going there, I grin. Fuck yeah, I’ve still got it.

“Kade!” Hardin shouts my name as he storms inside the lobby. Both daughters look again and fuck, now they know my name. “Where’s Jed?”

“I don’t fucking know. I’m not his keeper. Why you all revved up?” He pisses me off when he gets all snappy and impatient.

“Laken’s with Freya and I can’t get a hold of either of them. Call her. I wanna make sure they’re fine in this storm.” He leans against the desk. I glare at him, noticing how tired and stressed he looks. Because of that look, and not his snappy attitude, I call Laken.

“Relax, man. You ever going to tell us what’s going on?” I ask him as the phone rings.

“Just call her!”

Jesus. I hold up the phone, showing him that I am calling her. If she didn’t pick up for him, what makes him think she’ll pick up for me? She doesn’t pick up on the first ring, and neither does Jed, but when I call Laken again, I get a crackling sound.

“Kade…Freya…at…our cabin. Hardin come…see you…”

“What? You’re at the cabin with Freya?”

“Ye…bring Har.” Shitty service cuts us off, the line going dead.
