By the time we get a few runs in, my sex legs are already jelly. Gar sits with me on a snow-capped peak, and we watch Jed and Kade board in the distance. Not only did I somehow gain two boyfriends in Alaska, I also gained Gar. If I hadn’t run into him that first day here, I don’t know if we’d be best friends, but no matter how it worked out, Gar is my soulmate. We were just…meant to be.

“You are fucking weak, Lakes. I’m losing respect for you by the day,” Gar says, handing me a granola bar.

“Fuck you. My legs are tired.” I rip it open and tear off a bite. “What’s up with Amber?” I ask him about this girl he’s dating. “Everything okay?”

Gar sighs, trying not to look disappointed. “I…she’s awesome, Lakes. I really like her, but every fucking time your name comes up, she gets all weird.”

“Weird how?”

“Well, at first she was just quiet and shit, but now, she’s…she flies off the handle. Makes a big deal, says I’m cheating on her, and I didn’t even realize we were official, you know?”

“Tell her that. Don’t let her walk all over you, Gar.” I give him a look to show I’m not fucking around. I will go full mama bear for Gar, but judging by Amber's accusations, that’ll only make things worse for him at this point. “You really like her?”

Gar nods, looking embarrassed. “It’s hard for me, you know? I’ve always been the…cute friend. She’s the first person who picked me first, Lake.”

Doesn’t mean he has to settle. I will make damn sure he knows that, but if he wants to give this thing a go, I’ll be the friend he needs me to be first. For now. Until she does something that fucks up his confidence. She better not fuck up his confidence. “I pick you first. Every time. Even over those two.” I point at the boys in the distance. “But I get what you mean. Think it would help if I met her? That way she doesn’t have to be so scared of me being your friend?”

Gar leans into me. “Thanks, Lake. We can try. I mean, she knows we’re just friends and that you're with Jed.” He grins. “Well, she actually thinks you’re with Kade, but semantics.”

I bury my face in my hands and granola bar. “Ugh, I’ve become that girl.”

“The girl between two brothers?” Gar laughs, mocking me. “Which one is Damon?”

“Kade,” I laugh. “Jed’s not really a Stefan but…shit, I think they’re both Damon.” I made Gar watch all eight seasons of that show with me while we were on our two-month summer trip across Alaska. He said he didn’t like it, but he knows what's up.

“Maybe a Damon and a Klaus.” Gar laughs. “I still think you’re fucking crazy.”

“What? Why?” I look at him.

“Those two?” he scoffs. “Those two?”

“Yeah, those two. What of it?”

“I’m just saying, it’s not too late to go for the twins.” He smirks. “Happy?”

I nod, staring at Jed and Kade as they descend the mountainside. “Happy.”

“Then I’m happy.” He wraps his arm around me and we take a million selfies because…we like selfies.

Chapter 26

Is it weird that I practically forced Laken to give me a play-by-play of her night with Kade? And then I got hard listening to it? Then I fucked her in the shower after he left?

Whatever. I’m rolling with the weird lately. Even when I tried to feel weird about it, Laken smirked at me, called me a dirty goat, and we continued fucking…with his cum still inside her.

So filthy.

After a day of boarding with Kade because Laken and Gar ditched us, we’re now sitting around Mom’s dinner table, listening to the bullshit.

“Work up a big appetite, Lake?” Kolt asks as Laken stuffs half a loaf of garlic bread into her mouth. “Jed or Kade?”

“Gar,” Laken says with a full mouth.

Everyone groans, calling her a lucky bitch. Rydan walks in wondering what everyone is groaning about, but the moment has passed and he’s too slow to keep up.

“Well, if you need a little extra release, I’m available.” Kolt grins at her, trying to be charming but coming off desperate.

Laken hums around her fork before pointing it at him. “Mm, what would you do to me, Kolt?” She licks her lips and gives him the sex eyes.
